What to do if the illuminated pushbutton “Replace filter element” is lit on my MTU Engine?
    • D
      David MartinezAug 1, 2025
When the maximum permissible differential pressure of 1.5 bar is exceeded, the illuminated pushbutton will light up. If you don't replace the coalescer filter element, the pressure will continue to increase, and the safety valve will open, leading fuel directly into the overflow tank. To resolve this, replace the coalescer filter element and then press the illuminated pushbutton “Replace filter element” to acknowledge the replacement.

The 'Pump fault' signal lamp lights up because the drive motor's overload protection has been triggered. This happens when the maximum permissible current consumption is exceeded, possibly due to a blockage or dry-running. To fix this, reset the motor protection relay.

How to address an illuminated “Water alarm” pushbutton on an MTU Engine?
    • N
      Nicole CooperAug 25, 2025
The illuminated pushbutton lights up when the maximum water level is reached, causing the water level electrode to open the water drain valve. If the valve's opening period exceeds 4 minutes, the pump switches off, and the alarm activates. To address this: 1. Press the illuminated pushbutton “Water alarm” to acknowledge the alarm. 2. Manually drain the water by pressing the illuminated pushbutton “Water drain” to open the drain valve. This supplements the automatic water drain function.
