What to do if my MULTIQUIP Power Tool is hard to start but has spark?
    • R
      Robert BryantAug 11, 2025
If your MULTIQUIP Power Tool is difficult to start even though fuel and spark are present, consider these possibilities: The ON/OFF switch might be shorted, so check the switch wiring and replace the switch if needed. The ignition coil could be defective, requiring replacement. The spark gap may be incorrect, or the points might be dirty; set the correct spark gap and clean the points. A worn or short-circuiting condenser could also be the issue, in which case, replace the condenser. Lastly, the spark plug wire might be broken or short-circuiting, necessitating replacement of the defective wiring.

If your MULTIQUIP Power Tool is hard to start and there's no spark, several things could be the cause. The spark plug might have bridging, carbon deposits, or deficient insulation. Try checking the spark plug gap, cleaning it, or replacing it. Also, the fuel line could be blocked, there could be water in the fuel tank, or the fuel filter might be clogged. Flush or replace the fuel tank and replace the fuel filter. The carburetor might be stuck, so check the float mechanism. If the spark plug is red, check the transistor ignition unit. If the spark plug is bluish white, there may be insufficient compression, injected air leaking or clogged carburetor jets. Also, check if there is oil and add as required. Finally, if the oil pressure alarm lamp blinks upon starting, check the automatic shutd...

If your MULTIQUIP Power Tool won't start despite having fuel, but there's no spark, here are some things to check: * **Spark Plug Issues:** Look for bridging, carbon deposits, or insulation problems. Clean, check the gap, or replace the spark plug. * **Fuel Delivery:** Ensure fuel is reaching the carburetor by checking the fuel line. Also, check for water in the fuel tank; if present, flush or replace the tank. Replace a clogged fuel filter. * **Carburetor:** Examine the float mechanism for a stuck carburetor. * **Ignition System:** If the spark plug is red, inspect the transistor ignition unit. If there is no spark present at the tip of the spark plug, check the transistor ignition unit for breakage and replace if defective. Check the voltage cord for cracks or breaks and replace...
