Overview

The Naxa NPB-252 is a portable MP3/CD player with an AM/FM stereo radio, designed for versatile audio playback both at home and on the go. This device allows users to enjoy their favorite music from various sources, including compact discs, MP3 files, and radio broadcasts.

Function Description:

The NPB-252 serves as a multi-functional audio player. Its primary functions include playing standard audio CDs, CD-R/RW discs, and MP3-CDs, which contain MP3 audio files. It also features an integrated AM/FM stereo radio for listening to local broadcasts. An AUX input jack allows for connection to external audio devices, expanding its playback capabilities. The unit can be powered by either AC household power or by batteries, offering flexibility for both stationary and portable use.

Usage Features:

The device is designed for straightforward operation with clearly labeled controls.

  • Power and Volume: The unit is turned on by setting the FUNCTION switch to one of the desired modes (CD, AM, or FM), and turned off by setting it to the OFF position. Volume is adjusted using a rotary VOLUME dial.
  • CD/MP3 Playback:
    • Loading Discs: The CD compartment opens by lifting a latch, and discs are placed with the label side facing up. The compartment is then securely closed. The player will automatically attempt to read the disc, displaying the number of playable tracks on the LED screen. MP3-CDs may take longer to read due to their larger data content.
    • Basic Playback: Playback is initiated with the PLAY key. The Play indicator lights up during playback. Pressing the PLAY key again pauses and resumes playback. The STOP key halts playback.
    • Track Navigation: The FF (Next/Fast Forward) key skips to the next track, while the REW (Previous/Rewind) key skips to the previous track. For faster navigation, pressing and holding the FF or REW keys allows scanning quickly forward or backward through the current track. The PROG/+10 key allows skipping forward by 10 tracks on a disc.
    • Repeat Playback: The REP key cycles through different repeat modes. A single track can be repeated (Repeat indicator flashes), or all tracks on the disc can be repeated (Repeat indicator lights steadily). Pressing the REP key until the indicator turns off cancels repeat playback.
    • Programming a Playlist: When the CD is stopped, users can create a custom playlist of up to 20 tracks. This involves pressing the PROG/+10 key, using the REW or FF keys to select a track, and then pressing PROG/+10 again to save it to the playlist. The LED screen displays the current playlist track number. Once the playlist is complete, pressing the PLAY key starts playback of the programmed sequence. The playlist can be replayed at any time or cleared from memory by pressing the STOP key twice. Opening the CD compartment also clears the playlist.
  • Radio Operation:
    • Mode Selection: To use the radio, the FUNCTION switch is set to either AM or FM.
    • Tuning: The Radio Tuning dial is used to tune to desired radio stations, with the frequency displayed on a printed scale.
    • Reception Optimization: For FM radio, the telescopic FM antenna should be fully extended and adjusted for optimal reception. The AM antenna is internal, so adjusting the player's orientation may improve AM reception.
  • AUX Input: An external audio device can be connected to the 3.5mm AUX Input jack. The FUNCTION switch should be set to the CD position. Users should connect their device, lower the player's volume, start playback on the external device (setting its volume to about 80%), and then adjust the final volume on the NPB-252. Playback control (stop, play, next) is managed by the external audio source.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: For portable use, the unit requires 6 UM-2 “C” size batteries. The battery compartment is located on the bottom of the main unit. Users should ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries and replace all batteries at the same time.
  • Cleaning: The product should be unplugged from the wall outlet before cleaning. Only a damp cloth should be used; liquid or aerosol cleaners are not recommended.
  • Storage: Tapes or CDs should be stored in a cool area to prevent heat damage.
  • General Care: Users are advised not to block ventilation openings, avoid installing the unit in direct sunlight, near heat sources, in dusty or humid places, or areas with constant vibration. The unit should be operated according to the instructions provided.
  • Safety Precautions: Batteries should be removed if exhausted or if the unit will not be used for a long period to prevent electrolyte leakage. Different battery types should not be mixed. The product contains a low-power laser device, and users are warned against disassembling the casing or putting objects into the safety slot to avoid exposure to hazardous laser radiation. In case of liquid or solid objects falling into the cabinet, operation should be stopped immediately. The power cord should be routed to prevent pinching or damage. For long periods of disuse or during lightning storms, the unit should be unplugged from the wall outlet and batteries removed.
  • Servicing: Any servicing or repairs should be performed by qualified service personnel. Unauthorized modifications or substitutions of parts may result in fire, electric shock, or other hazards.
