This document is a user manual for the Nebula Solar and Nebula Solar Portable projectors, manufactured by Anker. It provides comprehensive instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining the devices, along with safety guidelines and troubleshooting tips.
The Nebula Solar and Nebula Solar Portable are compact projectors designed to deliver a high-quality visual and audio experience. They are capable of projecting images ranging from 30 to 120 inches in size, making them suitable for various viewing environments, from intimate home settings to larger gatherings. Both models feature Android TV™ built-in, offering access to a wide array of online services, movies, music, and pictures through pre-installed apps and the Google Play Store. Users can also interact with the Google Assistant for voice-controlled tasks.
These projectors can function as standalone Bluetooth speakers, allowing users to enjoy audio content without projecting an image. They support multiple input sources, including HDMI playback devices (such as TV boxes, TV sticks, DVD players, set-top boxes, and gaming consoles) and USB drives for playing stored music, videos, and pictures. A key feature is the integrated Chromecast™ Built-in, which enables wireless casting of photos, videos, and music from smartphones or computers directly to the projector.
The devices incorporate automatic autofocus to ensure a clear and sharp image, and they offer keystone correction to adjust the projection image even if the projector is tilted. Various projection modes are available, including front, rear, inverted front, and inverted rear projection, to accommodate different setup requirements.
The Nebula Solar and Nebula Solar Portable are designed for ease of use, starting with their placement. They should be positioned on a stable, flat surface, facing a white and flat projection surface for optimal results. The ideal projection distance ranges from 0.8 meters (30 inches) to 3.18 meters (120 inches). For the best image quality, it's recommended to set the projector between 63 and 104 inches away from the screen. A unique design element is the nameplate on the back panel, which can be opened to serve as a stand, enhancing portability and setup flexibility. The projectors can also be mounted on the ceiling.
Control of the projector is primarily managed via a remote control, which comes with two AAA batteries. For first-time use, batteries need to be installed. The remote allows for power on/off, navigation through menus, adjusting focus, activating Google Assistant, confirming selections, returning to the home screen, accessing system settings, and controlling volume.
For enhanced control and convenience, users are encouraged to download the Nebula Connect app on their smartphones (available for iOS and Android). This app transforms the phone screen into a mouse for easier navigation and interaction with the projector's interface. Connecting the app involves enabling Bluetooth on the smartphone and pairing it with the projector.
The initial setup process guides users through connecting to a Wi-Fi network and signing in with a Google account to activate Android TV™. The projectors offer various settings to customize the viewing experience, including brightness adjustment, image modes (Auto, Standard, Battery Mode), color temperature (Normal, Cool, Warm), and wall color correction (White, Red, Orange, Blue, Green, Cyan, Yellow, Purple). They also support 3D effects with options for 2D, 3D (Side by Side), and 3D (Over-Under). HDR effect can be enabled or disabled.
Audio settings allow users to change the digital audio format between PCM and RAW. HDMI input settings include CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) for integrated control with connected devices, and an HDMI 2.0 option.
When used as a Bluetooth speaker, the projector can be switched to Bluetooth speaker mode either by pressing a dedicated button on the device or through the home page settings. Users can then pair their smartphones or other Bluetooth devices to stream audio.
The "Apps" section in the settings allows users to manage installed applications, check versions, force stop, clear data/cache, and manage notifications and permissions. "Device Preferences" provides access to device information, firmware version, date & time settings, language selection, keyboard type, sound output source, storage management, and a reset option to erase all internal data. Date & time settings include automatic date and time, manual setting, time zone selection, and a 24-hour format option.
The manual emphasizes several safety and maintenance instructions to ensure the longevity and proper functioning of the device.
For setup, it's crucial to avoid exposing the device to rain or moisture and to keep liquids away. The projector should not be placed on soft surfaces like tablecloths or carpets to prevent fire hazards, nor in areas with excessive dust, dirt, or strong magnetic fields. Proper ventilation is essential to prevent overheating, so ventilation openings must not be blocked, and sufficient space should be left around the device.
Environmental protection is also highlighted: the device should be protected from direct sunlight, extreme heat, large temperature fluctuations, and moisture. The recommended operating and storage temperature is between 5°C and 35°C (41°F to 95°F). If the device becomes hot during prolonged use, it should be shut down and unplugged, then allowed to cool before resuming operation.
Physical handling requires care: avoid touching the lens, and children should not handle the device without supervision. Heavy or sharp objects should not be placed on the projector. Disassembly is not recommended to avoid electric shock. Only manufacturer-specified attachments or accessories should be used, and extreme vibrations should be avoided to prevent damage to internal components.
Power supply maintenance involves using only the provided power adapter and powering off the device before unplugging it. The power cord should be protected from being walked on or pinched, especially at plugs and connection points. The device should be unplugged during lightning storms or when unused for extended periods. The power plug or appliance coupler, if used as a disconnect device, must remain readily operable. All devices should be disconnected from the power outlet before making or changing connections, and the power cable or connector should never be touched with wet hands.
Hearing safety is addressed by advising users not to listen at high volumes for extended periods and to set the volume to a safe level.
For charging, the device should be placed in an environment with normal room temperature (5°C to 25°C / 41°F to 77°F recommended) and good ventilation. Due to the enclosure material, the device should only be connected to a USB interface of version 2.0 or higher.
Cleaning instructions specify using a soft, lint-free cloth. Liquid, gaseous, or easily flammable cleansers should never be used. For cleaning the lens, liquid cleaning agents are to be avoided to prevent damage to the coating film; instead, lens cleaning paper should be used.
Repairs should only be carried out by an authorized service center, as improper maintenance can lead to injuries or device damage. All servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel.
A caution regarding possible hazardous optical radiation is included, advising users not to stare at the operating beam as the bright light may damage eyes.
The manual also provides troubleshooting steps for common issues, such as the remote control not working (check/replace batteries), blurred images (move projector slightly, use autofocus or manual focus adjustment), inability to connect to Wi-Fi (refresh network list, reboot router/device), and firmware updates (device will prompt for reboot and update when a new version is detected).
