Overview

This document describes an extractor hood, designed for domestic use to remove cooking fumes and odors from the kitchen environment. It can be operated in either exhaust air mode or circulating-air mode, offering flexibility based on installation requirements.

Function Description

The extractor hood operates by drawing in air, cleaning it through grease filters, and then either expelling it to the exterior (exhaust air mode) or recirculating it back into the kitchen after passing through an activated carbon filter (circulating-air mode).

Operating Modes:

  • Exhaust Air Mode: Air is cleaned by grease filters and conveyed outside via a pipe system. This mode requires proper ventilation to the exterior and adherence to local building regulations.
  • Circulating-Air Mode: Air is cleaned by both grease filters and an activated carbon filter before being returned to the kitchen. An activated carbon filter is essential for odor binding in this mode.

Control Panel Functions: The appliance features a touch control panel with various symbols:

  • Fan on/off (①): Toggles the fan operation.
  • Noise reduction function (vol): Activates a mode to reduce fan noise. This function can be used at any fan setting except setting 1 and remains active even after the fan is switched off.
  • AirFresh function (fresh): Runs the fan at setting 1 for approximately 5 minutes per hour to refresh the air.
  • Decrease fan setting (<): Reduces the fan speed.
  • Increase fan setting/intensive mode 1,2 (>): Increases fan speed or activates intensive mode.
  • Intensive mode 2 shortcut (P): Directly activates intensive mode, which runs for approximately 6 minutes before automatically switching back to fan setting 3.
  • Fan run-on ( ): Keeps the fan running at setting 1 for about 10 minutes after cooking to clear remaining fumes, then switches off automatically.
  • Light on/off/dimming ( ): Controls the appliance lighting, allowing for brightness adjustment by pressing and holding the symbol.

Saturation Display: The appliance indicates when the metal grease filters or activated charcoal filter are saturated by flashing corresponding symbols (FE for metal grease filter, CE for activated charcoal filter, or both). These indicators can be reset by touching the (symbol while flashing. Note that the saturation indicator does not apply to non-renewable activated charcoal filters installed downstream of the metal grease filter, which should be replaced twice a year.

Audible Signal: An audible signal can be activated or deactivated by pressing and holding the fan on/off (①) and light ( ) symbols simultaneously for approximately 3 seconds when the fan is off.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Installation Height: The appliance is intended for use up to a maximum height of 2000 meters above sea level.
  • Weight: The maximum weight of the extractor hood is 50 kg.
  • Electrical Connection: The appliance requires a protective contact socket that is correctly installed. If direct connection is not possible, an all-pole isolating switch must be integrated into the permanent electrical installation. A residual-current circuit breaker (RCCB) is recommended.
  • Power Cable Length: Approximately 1.30 m.
  • Exhaust Duct Diameter (Recommended): Inner diameter of 150 mm (at least 120 mm).
  • Flat Duct Cross-Section: Must correspond to the diameter of round pipes (e.g., 177 cm² for 150 mm, 113 cm² for 120 mm).
  • Safety Clearances: Must comply with specified safety clearances to prevent heat build-up, especially when used above gas or electric hobs. The largest specified clearance applies if both are operated together.
  • Support Frame Adjustment: The height of the support frame can be adjusted in 20 mm intervals.
  • Fasteners: The enclosed screws and wall plugs are suitable for solid brickwork. For other structures, suitable fasteners must be used.

Usage Features

  • Energy Saving Tips:
    • Ensure adequate air supply during cooking.
    • Adjust fan speed to the amount of steam; use intensive mode only when necessary.
    • Switch off the extractor hood and lighting when no longer needed.
    • Clean/replace filters regularly to maintain effectiveness and prevent fire risk.
    • Use lids on cookware to reduce steam and condensation.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always ensure adequate fresh air in the room when operating in exhaust air mode simultaneously with room air-dependent heat-producing appliances to prevent flue gases from being drawn back in.
    • Regularly clean grease filters to prevent fire.
    • Never operate without a grease filter.
    • Avoid naked flames near the appliance.
    • Do not leave hot fat or oil unattended.
    • Only operate gas burners with cookware on them.
    • Avoid operating multiple gas burners on the highest flame for extended periods.
    • Accessible parts become hot during operation; allow to cool before cleaning.
    • Wear protective gloves during installation and maintenance due to sharp edges.
    • Do not place objects on the appliance.
    • Avoid looking directly into switched-on LED lights for more than 100 seconds.
    • Do not connect a damaged appliance.
    • Repairs should only be carried out by trained after-sales technicians.
    • Do not use high-pressure or steam cleaners.
    • Remove protective film from all parts before first use.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning Agents: Use hot soapy water for stainless steel, painted surfaces, aluminum, plastic, and controls. Glass cleaner for glass surfaces. Avoid abrasive cleaners, high-alcohol content products, hard scouring pads, pressure/steam cleaners, descalers, aggressive all-purpose cleaners, and oven spray. Clean stainless steel surfaces in the direction of the grain.
  • Metal Mesh Grease Filters:
    • Clean every 2 months.
    • Can be cleaned in a dishwasher (using normal domestic dishwashing detergents, no more than 70 °C, without heavily soiled cookware, with plenty of space) or by hand (soak in hot soapy water, clean with a brush, rinse, and drain).
    • Slight discoloration may occur in the dishwasher but does not affect performance.
    • Special degreasers can be ordered for stubborn dirt.
    • To remove: Open the lock, swing down the filter, and take it out. Hold it level to prevent fat from dripping.
    • To install: Insert the filter and lock it in place, ensuring correct positioning.
  • Activated Charcoal Filter: Non-renewable filters should be replaced twice a year. Regenerable filters require specific cleaning/regeneration instructions (not detailed in this section but mentioned as an option for circulating-air mode).
  • LED Lights: Defective LED lights can only be replaced by the manufacturer, customer service, or a qualified technician.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting table for common issues like the appliance not working (check plug, power cut, fuse) or lighting not working (LEDs defective, control unit faulty).
