Function Description
The NEWA More aquarium serves as a complete aquatic habitat, providing essential life support systems for fish and aquatic plants. Its primary functions include:
- Water Filtration: A "closed cycle" purification system ensures the water is continuously cleaned, removing suspended impurities and dissolved organic substances. This system relies on mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration.
- Water Heating: (Except NMO 20) An automatic submersible heater maintains a stable water temperature, crucial for the well-being of most ornamental fish.
- LED Lighting: High-quality LED lighting units provide effective illumination for plant growth and animal health, featuring customizable light intensity and a programmable timer with dawn-dusk effects.
- Air Diffusion Skimmer: (NMO 30R - 50R versions) An integrated skimmer removes dissolved organic substances from marine water by producing micro-bubbles, preventing their transformation into nitrates and phosphates.

Usage Features
- Installation: The aquarium must be placed on a solid, level surface capable of supporting its maximum weight. It should be positioned away from heat sources, cold drafts, and other electrical appliances susceptible to water splashes. Direct or intense sunlight should be avoided to prevent excessive algae growth.
- Water Level: Maintain the water level between 3 cm and 5 cm from the upper rim to ensure proper filter operation.
- Heater Adjustment: (NMO 30, 50, 30R, 50R) The submersible heater can be adjusted between 18°C and 32°C using a knob. The built-in light indicates operation.
- Lighting Control: The LED lighting system features touch controls for manual on/off, timer programming, and luminous intensity customization.
- Manual On/Off: A dedicated button allows immediate switching of the lights, overriding any programmed settings.
- Timer Programming: The timer can be customized to adjust the duration of the daytime phase (default 8 hours) by increasing or decreasing it in 1-hour increments. The night-time phase duration adjusts automatically to cover 24 hours.
- Dimmer Function: Luminous intensity can be adjusted for both daytime (15%-100%) and night-time (0%-15%) phases. This function is not available during sunrise or sunset phases, which have a fixed duration of 40 minutes each.
- Power Outage Memory: The lighting system retains customized programs for up to 40 minutes in case of power loss. After 40 minutes, it reverts to factory presets.
- Skimmer Operation: (NMO 30R - 50R) The air-diffusion skimmer requires an air-pump, check valve, and air flow adjustment tap. Airflow needs to be regulated to ensure slow foam collection in the cup. The skimmer's efficiency depends on water level, air-pump filter cleanliness, and the integrity of the porous wood element.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the aquarium's proper functioning and biochemical balance. These operations are designed to be simple and mess-free.
- Weekly Maintenance:
- Rinse the Mechanichem filter cartridge under running water to maintain mechanical-chemical filtering.
- Clean the inside of the aquarium glass with a magnetic brush to remove algae.
- Clean the transparent resin protecting the LED lighting bar with a damp cloth or sponge.
- Check and top up the water level with water at a similar temperature.
- Check water temperature with an immersion thermometer.
- Monthly Maintenance:
- Replace the Mechanichem I or II filter cartridge with a new one.
- Every 3 Months:
- Rinse the Biofoam filter cartridge with aquarium water to preserve bacterial colonies.
- Clean the bottom of the aquarium by gently siphoning deposited sediment, taking care not to disturb plants.
- Clean the rotor and pump impeller to remove any deposits.
- Rotor Cleaning: Disconnect power, remove the skimmer collection cup, filter compartment lid, and filter cartridges. Ease out the corner cable housing profile. Remove the filter from its position. Separate the impeller chamber from the pump body to access the magnetic rotor. Clean the rotor and impeller chamber with a brush under running water. For stubborn calcium deposits, soak in vinegar for 15-20 minutes before cleaning.
- Filter Cartridge Replacement: Open the filter area lid, remove the old cartridges by their handle, and dispose of them according to local regulations. Insert new Mechanichem (and Biofoam, if applicable) cartridges, ensuring the "TOP SIDE" label faces upwards for NMO20/NMO30 models.
- Porous Wood Element Replacement: (NMO 30R - 50R) Remove the slide housing the porous wood element, replace the element, and reassemble, ensuring the aeration pipe is not bent.
- Heater Replacement: Disconnect the heater from power and wait at least 15 minutes for it to cool. Remove the filter, then gently pull the heater out by its plastic cap. Insert the new heater into the support ring, ensuring the cap fits perfectly. Reassemble the filter and its components.
The manual also provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the filter not sticking, lighting/timer malfunctions, incorrect water temperature, limited water flow, and reduced skimmer efficiency. It emphasizes the importance of proper disposal of electrical and electronic waste according to EU Directive 2012/19/UE (EN50419) and offers a 24-month warranty against material and manufacturing defects, subject to specific conditions.
