This document describes the NIKKAI Air Cooler / Humidifier, Model No L35AK, a device designed to provide cooling and humidification.
Function Description:
The NIKKAI L35AK functions as both an air cooler and a humidifier. It operates by drawing in ambient air, passing it through a filter and over rolling filters that are cooled by water from a reservoir, and then releasing cool, humidified air through an air vent. The unit utilizes cooler blocks, which can be frozen and placed in the water reservoir to enhance the cooling effect. It features an oscillating louver with an auto oscillating angle of 100 degrees to distribute air effectively. The device also includes a control panel and a remote control for easy operation.

Usage Features:
The unit is designed for user-friendly operation with several features:
- Control Panel: Located on the unit, it provides indicators for timer, swing, cool, power, and speed switch.
- Remote Control: A magnetic attachment on the unit keeps the remote control safe and easily accessible.
- Timer Switch: Allows setting the unit to run in 30-minute intervals up to a maximum of 7.5 hours.
- Speed Switch: Enables selection between low, medium, and high airflow.
- Oscillating Switch: Activates automatic louver swinging.
- Cool Switch: Engages the cooling function by passing ambient air over rolling filters and releasing cool airflow.
- Water Reservoir: Holds up to 6.5 litres of water, replenished through a dedicated water inlet. A water reservoir index shows the current water level.
- Cooler Blocks: These blocks can be filled with water, frozen for a minimum of three hours, and then placed in the water reservoir to provide an even cooler airflow.
- Handle and Castors: For easy transportation of the unit.
- Filter: An anti-bacterial filter is included, supported by a filter holder.
- Water Outlet: A rubber plug at the back allows for easy discharge of water from the reservoir.
Safety Instructions and Precautions:
- Do not use in the bathroom or connect to mains electricity with wet hands.
- Unplug immediately if the unit is tipped over.
- Do not sit on the unit or place objects on top.
- Check the power cord for damage before use; do not use if frayed or exposed wires.
- Place the unit on a firm, flat, level surface, away from heat sources.
- Position the unit in an area inaccessible to children, with the power cord not posing a trip hazard.
- Always unplug and empty the air cooler before servicing or cleaning.
- Never try turning on the power while the unit is unplugged.
- Do not tilt or attempt to move the air cooler while it is operating.
- Turn off the air cooler if relative humidity is very high.
- Do not block suction and exhaust openings.
- Do not lift the lid off the water inlet violently to prevent hinge damage.
- If the water reservoir is over-filled, remove the rubber plug to discharge water.
- Do not empty refrigerants from cooler blocks; simply re-freeze them.
- If refrigerants are eaten, consult a doctor immediately. If they enter the eye, flush with clean water and consult a doctor.
Maintenance Features:
Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity:
- Cleaning the Filter: Remove the filter and wash it under running water.
- Cleaning the Water Tank: Empty the water tank, remove the rear casing, and wash the reservoir tank with mild soap detergent. Rinse with clean tap water.
- Removing Scales/Lime Deposits: Fill the water tank with water and 200ml of white vinegar. Use a soft cloth or brush to clean.
- External Cleaning: Use mild detergents for external cleaning; avoid products containing alcohol or benzene. Wipe with a soft cloth.
- Drying the Unit: After discharging water, ensure the internals are completely dry. The unit can be run on 'high' speed for approximately one hour to speed up drying.
- Filter Pad Maintenance: If offensive odour or weak airflow occurs, remove the back filter pad, wash it in neutral detergent, and dry before replacing.
- Storage: Clean and dry the air cooler thoroughly before storage. Ensure all components are dry and no water remains in the unit to prevent deposits or bacterial growth. Wrap the power cord for safety.
- Power Cord Damage: If the power cord is damaged, it must be fixed by a service agent or similarly qualified person to avoid electric shock.
- Important Note: Never immerse the complete unit in water. Never use chemical solutions such as bleach or oil on the casing.
Troubleshooting (If the Air Cooler is Not Working as Expected):
- Air not cool enough: Fill the water reservoir and add frozen cooler blocks.
- Weak airflow: Check and clean the filter with mild detergent, then dry it.
- No power output: Ensure the air cooler is plugged into an appropriate socket. If the power is off via the Timer, turn on the power switch to Normal operation.
- Other abnormal conditions: Unplug the power cord and contact your nearest Maplin store for repair.
