Slow Sync Flash — improve background exposure
lf you take a picture of a subject using the Auto Flash at a relatively
close distance, the subject will appear bright and well exposed, but
the background is usually dark, almost black. To brighten the
background exposure, use Anytime Flash.
Although the slowest shutter speed when using Auto Flash in
program exposure (P)} mode is approximately 1/30 sec., in aperture
priority exposure (A) mode or when Anytime Flash is used, the shutter
speed can be controlled to speeds as slow as 1/4 sec. This provides
for a better exposure of both the flash-illuminated subject and the
otherwise dark background.
