Overview

The Ninja CREAMi® Deluxe CN501CO is an advanced kitchen appliance designed to transform frozen ingredients into a variety of delicious, creamy treats. It's built for household use and focuses on ease of use, versatility, and consistent results.

Function Description

The CREAMi Deluxe allows users to create personalized frozen desserts and drinks, including ice cream, lite ice cream, sorbet, gelato, frozen yogurt, Creamiccino™, frozen drinks, slushies, milkshakes, and Italian ice. Its core function revolves around the Deluxe Creamerizer™ Paddle, a dual-functioning paddle that finely shaves and mixes frozen ingredients. This process, referred to as "Creamify™," ensures a smooth and creamy texture for all creations. The appliance is not a blender and is specifically designed for processing frozen bases rather than solid ice blocks, hard, loose ingredients, or hot liquids. It also features a MIX-IN program to incorporate additional ingredients like candies, cookies, nuts, or frozen fruit into processed bases, and a RE-SPIN program to achieve a smoother texture for crumbly or powdery results, especially with very cold bases.

Usage Features

The CREAMi Deluxe operates with a user-friendly control panel featuring a Power button, processing mode selections (TOP, FULL, BOTTOM), and a dial for program selection.

  • Pint Preparation: Users begin by adding ingredients to a CREAMi® Deluxe Pint, ensuring not to exceed the MAX FILL line. For recipes requiring freezing, the pint is then lidded and frozen for at least 24 hours on a level surface in the freezer. The recommended freezer temperature range is between 9°F and -7°F for optimal processing.
  • Assembly: Before use, the unit must be plugged in. The Deluxe Creamerizer™ Paddle is attached to the outer bowl lid, which then locks onto the outer bowl. The outer bowl, containing the frozen pint, is placed onto the motor base, and the handle is twisted to lock it in place. An "Install Light" indicates proper assembly; a blinking light suggests an issue with the bowl, while a solid light points to a paddle installation problem.
  • Processing Modes: The appliance offers three processing modes:
    • FULL: Processes the entire Deluxe Pint.
    • TOP: Processes only the top half of the Deluxe Pint.
    • BOTTOM: Processes the remaining half of the Deluxe Pint (after a TOP process).
    • Note that TOP and BOTTOM modes are not available for DRINKABLE programs.
  • One-Touch Programs: After selecting a processing mode, users choose from a variety of one-touch programs tailored for specific treats. These programs are intelligently designed to optimize speed and duration for the best creamy results. The Countdown Timer displays the remaining program time, and an "Enjoy Light" illuminates upon completion.
  • Mix-in Program: To add mix-ins, a 1 1/2-inch-wide hole is created in the center of the processed base. Chopped or broken mix-ins (up to 1/4 cup total) are added to this hole, and the MIX-IN program is run using the same processing mode as the initial process. Hard mix-ins like chocolate and nuts will remain intact, while soft mix-ins like cereal or frozen fruit will be broken down. Fresh fruit, sauces, and spreads are not recommended as mix-ins.
  • Re-Spin Program: If the processed treat is crumbly or powdery, the RE-SPIN program can be used to achieve a smoother, creamier texture. This is particularly useful for very cold bases. It's important not to run RE-SPIN before MIX-IN.
  • Re-freezing and Reprocessing: Unfinished Deluxe Pints can be flattened and refrozen. If the treat becomes hard after refreezing, it can be reprocessed using the original program. For drinkable leftovers, additional liquid can be added before reprocessing with FROZEN DRINK, SLUSHI, or CREAMICCINO.
  • Safety Interlocks: The appliance features a safety system that prevents operation without the lid and container properly installed. It also has an overload protection system that temporarily disables the motor if overloaded, requiring a reset procedure.

Maintenance Features

The CREAMi Deluxe is designed for easy cleaning and storage.

  • Cleaning: All parts that contact food—containers, lids, and the Deluxe Creamerizer™ Paddle—are top-rack dishwasher safe. They should be separated before placing them in the dishwasher and should not be cleaned with a heated dry cycle. For hand-washing, warm, soapy water and a dishwashing utensil with a handle are recommended for the paddle. The outer bowl lid's rubber lip seal is removable for thorough cleaning. The motor base should be unplugged and wiped with a clean, damp cloth; it should never be submerged in liquid. The spindle below the control panel and the area between the motor base and the raised platform can also be cleaned with a damp cloth.
  • Storage: The power cord can be wrapped with its hook-and-loop fastener at the back of the motor base for tidy storage. Attachments should be stored alongside the unit in a way that prevents damage or hazards.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues like the unit moving on the counter, liquid or crumbly results, programs not illuminating, and the outer bowl not releasing. It offers solutions such as checking freezer temperature, ensuring proper assembly, resetting the motor, and cleaning specific parts.
  • Pint Durability: Light scratching of the Deluxe Pint is considered normal with regular use. To minimize scratching, users are advised to prep ingredients in a separate bowl and avoid aggressive use of metal utensils in the pint. Cleaning with soft, nonabrasive cloths is also recommended.
