Overview

The Ninja Foodi Deluxe TenderCrisp Pressure Cooker, model OP402Q Series, is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for countertop use, offering a wide range of cooking functions. This owner's guide provides comprehensive instructions for its safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description:

The Ninja Foodi Deluxe TenderCrisp Pressure Cooker combines the capabilities of a pressure cooker and an air fryer, allowing users to achieve both tender and crispy results in one appliance. It features two interchangeable lids: a pressure lid for pressure cooking, steaming, and slow cooking, and a crisping lid for air crisping, baking/roasting, broiling, and dehydrating.

The device offers several cooking functions:

  • Pressure Cook: This function cooks food quickly while maintaining tenderness, utilizing high pressure. Users can adjust the pressure level (HI or LOW) and set the cooking time.
  • Steam: Designed for gently cooking delicate foods at a high temperature. It requires a minimum amount of liquid and allows for temperature and time adjustments.
  • Slow Cook: This function cooks food at a lower temperature for longer periods, ideal for tenderizing meats and developing rich flavors. It offers HIGH and LOW temperature settings and adjustable cooking times.
  • Sear/Sauté: This function allows the unit to be used as a stovetop for browning meats, sautéing vegetables, and simmering sauces. It offers various temperature settings (low, medium-low, medium, medium-high, or high) but does not have a time adjustment.
  • Air Crisp: This function acts as an air fryer, providing crispiness and crunch to foods with little to no oil. Users can adjust the temperature between 300°F and 400°F and set the cooking time.
  • Bake/Roast: This function allows the unit to be used as an oven for tender meats and baked treats. Temperatures can be set between 250°F and 400°F, with adjustable cooking times.
  • Broil: This function is used to caramelize and brown food. It operates without temperature adjustment, only requiring a set cooking time.
  • Dehydrate: This function is for dehydrating meats, fruits, and vegetables to create healthy snacks. Temperatures can be set between 105°F and 195°F, with adjustable cooking times up to 12 hours.

The control panel features a digital display for temperature and time, along with dedicated function buttons and operating buttons (TEMP arrows, TIME arrows, START/STOP, KEEP WARM, and POWER).

Usage Features:

The Ninja Foodi Deluxe TenderCrisp Pressure Cooker is designed for ease of use with several key features:

  • Interchangeable Lids: The device seamlessly transitions between pressure cooking and crisping functions by swapping the pressure lid and the crisping lid. The crisping lid is attached by a hinge and can be opened during convection cooking to check on ingredients, pausing the cooking process automatically.
  • Control Panel: The intuitive control panel allows users to select functions, adjust temperature and time using up and down arrows, and start/stop cooking.
  • Preheating: For Air Crisp and Bake/Roast functions, it is recommended to preheat the unit for 5 minutes before adding ingredients to ensure even cooking.
  • Accessories: The unit comes with a removable cooking pot, a Cook & Crisp Basket with a detachable diffuser, and a deluxe reversible rack. Optional accessories like a skewer stand, multi-purpose pan, roasting rack insert, dehydrating rack, loaf pan, and crisper pan are available for purchase to expand cooking capabilities.
  • Pressure Release: The pressure lid features a pressure release valve that can be set to SEAL for pressure cooking or VENT for quick pressure release. Natural pressure release occurs as the unit cools down, while quick pressure release rapidly vents steam.
  • Keep Warm Mode: After pressure cooking, steaming, or slow cooking, the unit automatically switches to Keep Warm mode for up to 12 hours, maintaining food at a safe temperature. This mode is not intended for warming food from a cold state.
  • Standby Mode: The unit enters standby mode after 10 minutes of inactivity on the control panel.
  • Safety Features: The pressure lid will not unlock until the unit is completely depressurized. The anti-clog cap protects the inner valve from clogging and prevents food splatters. The silicone ring must be properly installed for safe pressure cooking.

Maintenance Features:

Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the Ninja Foodi Deluxe TenderCrisp Pressure Cooker:

  • Cleaning:
    • Always unplug the unit before cleaning and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes.
    • The cooker base and control panel should be wiped clean with a damp cloth; they should never be immersed in water or cleaned in a dishwasher.
    • The cooking pot, silicone ring, deluxe reversible rack, Cook & Crisp Basket, and detachable diffuser are dishwasher-safe.
    • The pressure lid, including the pressure release valve and anti-clog cap, can be hand-washed with water and dish soap. The pressure lid or its components should not be washed in a dishwasher, nor should the pressure release valve or red float valve assembly be disassembled.
    • The crisping lid should be wiped down with a wet cloth or paper towel after the heat shield cools.
    • For stubborn food residue in the cooking pot or accessories, fill the pot with water and allow it to soak before cleaning. Use a non-abrasive cleanser or liquid dish soap with a nylon pad or brush; avoid scouring pads and metal utensils to protect the nonstick coating.
    • All parts should be air-dried after each use.
  • Silicone Ring: The silicone ring is reversible and should be properly seated in its rack on the underside of the pressure lid before each use. It should be removed and cleaned after every use to prevent odor and food debris buildup. If the silicone ring is torn, damaged, or deformed, it must be replaced to ensure proper pressure sealing. Extra silicone rings can be purchased.
  • Anti-Clog Cap: The anti-clog cap should be cleaned after every use with a cleaning brush to prevent clogging. It can be removed by squeezing and pulling upward and reinstalled by positioning and pressing down.
  • Regular Inspection: Regularly inspect the appliance and power cord for any damage. If the appliance malfunctions or is damaged, discontinue use immediately and contact customer service.
