The Nokia ONT G-240G-A is an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) designed for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) applications, serving both small businesses and residential customers. It is part of Nokia's industry-leading ONT product family and is compatible with the Nokia 7342/7360 ISAM FTTx product line. This device is engineered to deliver triple-play services, including data, voice, and video, by terminating a Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) fiber interface compliant with a Full Service Access Network (FSAN).
The G-240G-A features four Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) ports and two POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) ports, making it suitable for environments requiring multiple Ethernet and voice connections. It supports a line rate of 2.5 Gb/s downstream and 1.25 Gb/s upstream. With GPON as the uplink interface, it facilitates standard triple-play services such as voice, video, and high-speed internet access for home networking. The ONT is compliant with ITU-T G.984 and adheres to the standard ONT management and control interface (OMCI) definition, allowing for remote management via application management services (AMS). This enables comprehensive fault, configuration, accounting, performance, and security (FCAPS) functions. The device is temperature-hardened, suitable for both outdoor and indoor deployments. For outdoor use, it should be mounted in a Nokia universal single-family unit (SFU) ONT enclosure.
The G-240G-A is designed for ease of installation and use. To install, users connect the power cable to the PWR port and then to a wall socket. The protective caps on the OPTICAL port of the case and the fiber optic cable must be removed before connecting the optical fiber. The device can then be connected to a home router via an Ethernet cable, and powered on using the ON/OFF button. The product is intended for indoor use, and all connections should remain indoors. It is crucial to use the power adapter provided with the product and to ensure the power cable is not fastened to building surfaces or subjected to heavy objects. The socket-outlet should be easily accessible.
The device is designed for minimal user maintenance. It does not contain any user-serviceable components, and opening or attempting to open the product is discouraged as it can expose users to dangerous high voltage points and other risks, and could void the user's authority to operate the device. For cleaning, the product should be unplugged, and a soft, dry cloth used; liquid or aerosol cleaners are not recommended. Regular checks of power cords for damage are advised, and any damaged cords should be replaced immediately to prevent electric shock or fire. Adequate space for heat dissipation should be maintained, and ventilation holes should not be covered to prevent overheating. In case of malfunction or unexpected performance, immediate discontinuation of use is recommended. For any questions or issues, users should contact their Internet Services Provider. The product is designed to be managed remotely via OMCI and AMS, reducing the need for on-site maintenance.
