Overview

The NOMA Wooden Cabinet Infrared Heater, model no. 043-5997-6, is a heating appliance designed to provide warmth and comfort in indoor spaces. This infrared heater is housed within a wooden cabinet, offering a blend of functional heating and aesthetic appeal that can complement various home decors. It comes with both a control panel on the unit itself and a remote control for convenient operation.

Function Description:

The primary function of this device is to generate heat using infrared technology. Infrared heaters work by emitting infrared radiation, which directly heats objects and people in a room, rather than just the air. This can result in a more efficient and comfortable heating experience. The heater offers multiple operating modes, including High Power, Low Power, and an Energy-Saving (ECO) mode, allowing users to select the desired heat output and energy consumption level. It also features a thermostat that enables users to set a target room temperature, which the heater will then work to maintain by cycling on and off as needed. The temperature can be displayed in either Fahrenheit or Celsius, catering to different user preferences.

A key feature of this heater is its timer function, which allows users to program the unit to power off after a set period (up to 12 hours) when the heater is already running, or to power on after a set period (up to 12 hours) when the heater is off. This provides flexibility for scheduling heating cycles and can contribute to energy savings.

Usage Features:

The heater is designed for straightforward operation, offering both an on-unit control panel and a remote control.

  • Power On/Off: The unit can be turned on or off using the Power button on the control panel or the remote control. A master power switch located at the rear of the unit must also be in the "on" position for the heater to operate. When powered off, the heating elements cease operation, but the fan continues to run for up to 2 minutes to dissipate residual heat.
  • Mode Selection: Users can toggle between High Power (1500 W), Low Power (750 W), and ECO mode using the Mode button on either the control panel or the remote control. ECO mode is an energy-saving function that automatically sets the temperature to 68°F (20°C).
  • Temperature Adjustment: The thermostat can be adjusted to a desired room temperature ranging from 59°F to 86°F (15°C to 30°C) using the Temperature Up and Down buttons. Once the desired temperature is set, the heater will cycle on and off to maintain it.
  • Temperature Unit Toggle: A dedicated °C/°F button on the control panel allows users to switch the digital display between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
  • Timer Function: The Timer button on both the control panel and remote control enables setting a power-off timer (when the heater is on) or a power-on timer (when the heater is off). Each press of the timer button increases the timer length by 1 hour, up to a maximum of 12 hours. The timer can be cancelled by cycling through the options until "00" is displayed.
  • Electro-Lock Function: For safety and to prevent unintended operation, especially by children, the heater includes an Electro-Lock feature. This can be activated by pressing the LOCK button on the control panel for 3 seconds. Once locked, both the control panel and remote control buttons will not function, though a tone will still be heard when buttons are pressed. Unlocking is achieved by pressing the LOCK button again for 3 seconds. This feature can be used in both power-on and power-off modes.
  • Portability: The heater is equipped with swivel castors, making it easy to move the unit to different locations within a room or home. It is designed to be operated only in an upright position.

Safety Features:

The NOMA Infrared Heater incorporates several safety mechanisms:

  • Tip-Over Protection: An internal switch automatically shuts off the heater if it is accidentally tipped over. Once the heater is returned to an upright position, it can be reset and operated again.
  • Thermal Cut-Off Protection: This feature automatically turns off the heater if its internal components reach an unsafe temperature, preventing overheating and potential fire hazards. To reset, the master power switch at the rear of the unit must be turned off, the heater unplugged, allowed to cool for approximately 20 minutes, and then plugged back in and operated from the control panel or remote.
  • Grounding Plug: The heater is equipped with a three-prong grounded plug for electrical safety. An adapter is available for use with two-slot receptacles, but it must be connected to a permanent ground. The safety purpose of the grounded plug should never be defeated.
  • Power Cord Safety: Users are warned that a loose fit between the outlet and the plug can cause overheating of the plug. If the plug is loose, a different outlet should be used, and a qualified electrician should inspect the original outlet.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance helps ensure the heater's efficient and safe operation:

  • Cleaning the Outer Shell: The exterior of the heater can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth and a mild detergent if necessary. It is crucial to dry the unit completely with a soft cloth after cleaning and to prevent any liquid from entering the heater. Abrasive cleaners, alcohol, gasoline, furniture polish, or rough brushes should not be used, as they can damage the surface.
  • Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter, located at the rear of the unit, should be cleaned after approximately 3 months of use, or when it appears dirty or obstructs airflow. To clean, the heater must be unplugged, and two assembly screws removed to detach the filter assembly. All parts of the filter assembly should be cleaned and allowed to dry completely before reinstallation. The heater should never be operated without the filter assembly in place or if the filter is not completely dry.
  • Remote Control Battery Replacement: If the remote control ceases to function, the CR2025 battery may need to be replaced. The battery insulating film should be removed when using the remote for the first time.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, the heater should be stored in a cool, dry location. Using the original packaging is recommended to prevent dust and dirt build-up.

Troubleshooting and Error Codes:

The manual provides guidance for common issues and error codes:

  • No Operation: If the heater does not operate, users should check if the power cord is plugged in, if the main fuse is working, if the rear master power switch is on, and if the remote control battery is functional and its insulating film removed.
  • E2 Error: Indicates ambient air temperature is above 50°C. The heater will shut off to prevent overheating. It can be turned back on once the temperature drops below 50°C.
  • E3 Error: Signifies an open or short circuit in the temperature sensor. Users are advised to check if the sensor joint (a black rectangular object on the back panel) is loose and to tighten any loose wires. If the error persists, the sensor may need repair.
  • E4 Error: Indicates ambient air temperature is above 100°C, suggesting a high probability of overheating. The heater will shut off. It can be turned back on once the temperature drops below 50°C.
  • Thermostat Setting: If the heater is not operating, it may be because the thermostat is set lower than the current room temperature. Increasing the thermostat temperature for a higher heat setting should initiate operation.

The NOMA Wooden Cabinet Infrared Heater is designed to be a user-friendly and safe heating solution, with features that prioritize both comfort and convenience.
