Why Nordyne M1B, M1G, M1M combustion blower runs but no flame?
    • R
      Roger CoxAug 22, 2025
If the combustion blower in your Nordyne furnace is running but there's no flame, check the operation of the centrifugal switch by removing the end bell of the burner motor if you have an M1B model. Clean the contacts of the motor and if the contacts are closed, replace the motor. For M1M & M1G - 077, 090 Models with a defective pressure switch, check the air tube and electrical connections. Ensure the burner isn't simply in purge mode, allowing 75 seconds for the flame establishing period. Check for proper electrical connections at the purge timer, control box, or gas valve, and verify the gas supply by ensuring the gas line valve and control lever are on.

Why Nordyne M1B, M1G, M1M main flame ignites then burner locks out?
    • E
      Erica RodriguezAug 25, 2025
If the main flame ignites but the burner locks out on your Nordyne furnace, it could be due to several reasons: the ignition control is not properly grounded, the ignition control is defective, there's improper polarity of the 120-volt power supply, the ignitor has a hairline crack, improper gas pressure or burner air adjustment is preventing the flame from contacting the ignitor tip for flame rectification, or a misaligned ignitor is not allowing the flame to contact the ignitor tip for flame rectification.

What to check if Nordyne M1B, M1G, M1M burner is short cycling?
    • J
      Jeanette WalshAug 26, 2025
If your Nordyne furnace is experiencing burner short cycling with the thermostat calling for heat and the limit switches closed, check for proper polarity and grounding. Inspect the flue, combustion air, gas pressure, and orifice. Also, check the position of the ignitor; a normal reading should be 40-75 ohms.

Nordyne M1B, M1G, M1M control module powered but ignitor won’t heat up, what to do?
    • J
      Jason HardingAug 28, 2025
If the control module is powered but the ignitor won’t heat up in your Nordyne furnace, disconnect the ignitor leads at the AMP receptacle and check for 120 volts at the plug during the ignition sequence. If 120 volts is not available at the AMP plug during the ignition sequence, replace the ignition control.

Why Nordyne M1B, M1G, M1M Furnace has burner flame without motor running?
    • D
      Devon PriceAug 29, 2025
If your Nordyne furnace has a burner flame without the motor running, the gas valve may be stuck open. Check the gas valve for proper operation and replace if necessary; also, inspect the heat exchanger. Check for 115 volts to the combustion blower motor and replace if necessary. If there is no power to the combustion blower, check the wiring and control module; replace if necessary.

What to do if Nordyne Furnace has powered gas valve but no flame?
    • X
      xchavezAug 31, 2025
To troubleshoot a Nordyne furnace with a powered (24 VAC) gas valve but no main flame, first verify that the manual shut-off valve is OFF. Check that the pilot flame is established and that the gas valve control lever is in the ON position. Also, check the incoming gas pressure. If the main burner still does not come on under these conditions, replace the gas valve.

Why Nordyne Furnace causes high gas bills?
    • A
      alisonhansonSep 2, 2025
If your Nordyne furnace is causing high gas bills, verify that the proper orifices are being used. Check the return air system to ensure it is clear and free of blockage. Inspect the furnace filter to see if it's clean or needs replacing. Make sure the home is well-insulated, that windows and doors fit tightly, and that there are no leaks in the heating duct system. Check the room thermostat to ensure the setting isn't higher than necessary and verify the proper humidity level in the home.

What to do if Nordyne Furnace pilot will not light or keeps going out?
    • H
      Hailey NormanSep 4, 2025
If your Nordyne furnace pilot will not light or goes out, check the incoming gas pressure and ensure the proper pilot orifice is installed according to the furnace nameplate specifications. Check for proper pilot flame adjustment. Verify the thermocouple millivoltage, ensuring it reads between 18 - 30 mv; if not, the gas valve electromagnet may be defective, and the gas valve should be replaced if necessary. Confirm the pilot shield is in place and check for gas leaks. Also, inspect the flue assembly for air leaks.
