    • M
      Michael WilliamsAug 27, 2025
If the burner on your Nordyne heater won't light after the ODS/pilot is lit, the burner orifice might be clogged. Try cleaning the burner or replacing the burner orifice. Another possibility is that the burner orifice diameter is too small, requiring replacement. Also, the inlet gas pressure could be too low, so contact your local gas company.

Why does my Nordyne Gas Heater have slight smoke or odor during initial operation?
    • M
      maria57Sep 22, 2025
A slight smoke or odor during the initial operation of your Nordyne Gas Heater is likely due to vapors from paint or the curing process of the logs. This problem should stop after a few hours of operation; extra ventilation is recommended during this time. Avoid turning the control knob to the 'HI' position when the burner is cold; instead, turn it to 'LO' and let it warm up for a minute. Air in the gas line or a dirty burner orifice can also cause this issue. Operate the burner until the air is removed from the line and have the gas line checked, or clean the burner or replace the burner orifice.

Why is there no spark at ODS/pilot when pressing the igniter button on my Nordyne Gas Heater?
    • B
      Bruce JonesSep 16, 2025
If there's no spark at the ODS/pilot when you press the igniter button on your Nordyne Gas Heater, the igniter electrode might be positioned wrong or broken, requiring replacement. Ensure the igniter electrode is connected to the igniter cable. Also, check if the igniter cable is pinched or wet; free it from any obstructions and keep it dry. A loose piezo igniter nut should be tightened. If the igniter cable is broken or the piezo igniter is bad, replace them accordingly.

What to do if there is spark at ODS/pilot, but no ignition in Nordyne Gas Heater?
    • B
      Brian PattersonSep 18, 2025
If there's a spark at the ODS/pilot but no ignition in your Nordyne Gas Heater, first check if the gas supply is turned on and the manual shut-off valve is open. Ensure the control knob is in the 'PILOT' position and pressed in. If there's air in the gas lines, continue holding down the control knob and repeat the igniting operation until the air is removed. A clogged ODS/pilot might also be the cause, requiring replacement or service. If the gas regulator setting is incorrect, replace the gas regulator.

Why does my Nordyne Gas Heater shut off in use?
    • M
      Monica HernandezSep 7, 2025
Your Nordyne Gas Heater might be shutting off during use because there isn't enough fresh air available. Try opening a window or door for ventilation. Alternatively, it could be due to low line pressure, in which case you should contact your local gas company. A partially clogged ODS/pilot can also cause this issue; try cleaning the ODS/pilot.
