Overview

This document describes the AR112 Electric Pressure Washer, a device designed for cleaning various surfaces using high-pressure water. It is intended for consumer applications and comes with a limited warranty.

Function Description:

The AR112 Electric Pressure Washer is a cleaning tool that uses a high-pressure stream of water to remove dirt, grime, and stains from surfaces. It is equipped with a microswitch sensitive to water flow, which enables its Total Stop System (TSS). The TSS senses water flow in the pump, and when the trigger is released, water stops flowing through the pump, automatically turning the motor off to protect it from overheating. This feature helps prolong the life of the pump and motor. The device can be used with detergents specifically formulated for pressure washers to enhance cleaning effectiveness, especially for difficult stains. It is designed for both indoor and outdoor use, but must be stored indoors and above freezing temperatures to prevent damage.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: AR112
  • Maximum PSI (Pounds per Square Inch): 1600
  • Maximum GPM (Gallons per Minute): 1.58
  • Maximum Temperature: 122°F
  • Voltage: 120V
  • Amps: 11
  • Unit Weight: 18 lbs
  • Power Cord: Equipped with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) for safety.
  • Warranty: 1 year on the machine, 90 days on the gun and hose assembly from the date of retail purchase. This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to consumer applications.

Usage Features:

  • Operation: To start, pull the trigger on the gun, then turn the "ON/OFF" switch to "ON." Releasing the trigger will stop the motor. To spray again, pull the trigger. The motor may occasionally run for a short time even when the trigger is released to bring fresh, cool water into the pump; this is normal and will not damage the unit.
  • Safety Trigger Lock: The spray gun features a safety trigger lock. To activate, hold the gun and push the lock from left to right. Squeeze the trigger to ensure it does not move. The safety trigger lock should be engaged whenever the pressure washer is not in use.
  • Adjustable Spray Nozzle: The unit comes with an adjustable spray nozzle, allowing users to vary the fan pattern spray angle and the distance to the cleaning surface. This helps control the impact force of the water to prevent damage to surfaces.
  • Detergent Application: The pressure washer includes a detergent tank for applying detergents. Only detergents specifically formulated for pressure washers should be used. Detergents work best when applied at low pressure. For vertical surfaces, apply detergent starting from the bottom and working upward to prevent streaks.
  • Total Stop System (TSS): As mentioned, this system automatically turns off the motor when the trigger is released, protecting the pump from overheating and extending its lifespan.
  • Garden Hose Connection: The unit requires a garden hose connection. A swivel adapter is provided for easy attachment to the pump water inlet. Ensure the water supply is turned "ON" before turning on the pressure washer to prevent damage to the pump.
  • Power Cord Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded 120V outlet and press the reset button on the GFCI. This reset procedure must be performed each time the unit is plugged into an outlet.
  • Depressurizing the System: Before storage or maintenance, turn off the power and water supply, then press the gun trigger 2-3 times to release any trapped pressure.
  • Avoiding Surface Damage: Damage to cleaning surfaces occurs if the water's impact force exceeds the surface's durability. Users can control this by adjusting the nozzle's fan pattern, angle, and distance from the surface. Avoid using a narrow high-impact stream or turbo nozzle on susceptible surfaces, especially windows.
  • Initial Setup: Insert the lance adapter into the gun and turn clockwise to a positive stop. Insert the detergent bottle assembly into the lance, push down, and turn clockwise. Attach the high-pressure hose to the pump water outlet by hand tightening. Connect the garden hose. Plug in the power cord and turn on the water. Unlock the trigger lock. Depress and hold the trigger for one minute to release air from the system before turning the "ON/OFF" switch to "ON."
  • Gun Handling: Always hold the gun and wand firmly with both hands when starting and operating the machine, as the lance is affected by pressure during operation and can kick back. Point the nozzle toward the ground when starting.

Maintenance Features:

  • Nozzle Cleaning: A clogged or partially clogged nozzle can reduce water flow and cause the unit to pulsate. To clean, turn off the unit and water supply, relieve hose pressure by squeezing the trigger 2-3 times, and separate the lance from the gun. Rotate the nozzle to the narrow stream setting to open the fan blades. Use the included tip cleaner or an unfolded paper clip to clear debris from the nozzle hole. Additional debris can be removed by back-flushing water through the nozzle: remove the lance from the gun and place the end of a running garden hose to the tip of the nozzle, pushing water and debris out the back opening of the lance.
  • Hose Inspection: Regularly examine the high-pressure hose for damage and replace it if necessary. Do not attempt to mend a damaged hose, as bursting hoses can cause injury. Keep the hose away from sharp objects.
  • Storage: Store the pressure washer indoors and in an area where temperatures remain above freezing to prevent damage to the pump.
  • GFCI Inspection: Inspect the power cord and GFCI prior to each use. Any repair or replacement of the power cord must be performed by a qualified electrical technician.
  • General Inspection: Regularly check equipment for broken or missing parts and repair or replace worn or damaged parts immediately. Do not operate the pressure washer with the inlet water screen removed; keep the screen clear of debris and sediment.
  • Pump Protection: Never allow the unit to run with the trigger released (off) for more than one minute, as resulting heat buildup will damage the pump. Never operate the machine without all components properly connected (handle, gun/wand assembly, nozzle, etc.).
  • Water Supply: Always turn the water supply "ON" before turning the pressure washer "ON." Running the pump dry causes serious damage. The pressure washer is not designed to pump hot water; connecting it to a hot water supply will significantly reduce the pump's life.
  • Electrical Safety: Always disconnect power before disassembling or repairing the unit. Keep all electrical connections dry and off the ground. Do not touch the plug with wet hands. Do not spray electrical apparatus and wiring.
  • Detergent System: The chemical injection system can clog if thicker detergents (like dish soap) are used. Use only detergents specifically formulated for pressure washers.
  • Unattended Operation: Never leave the wand unattended while the machine is running, and unplug the unit when not in use.
  • Factory Settings: Never attempt to alter factory settings, as this could damage the unit and void the warranty.

The AR112 is a double-insulated appliance, meaning it has two systems of insulation instead of grounding. Servicing requires extreme care and knowledge of the system and should only be done by qualified service personnel using identical replacement parts.
