Overview

The provided document is a technical manual for the NS Bikes E-Fine electric mountain bike.

Function Description

The NS Bikes E-Fine is an electric mountain bike (e-bike) designed for aggressive trail riding. It combines the characteristics of a traditional mountain bike (MTB) with the assistance of an electric motor, offering a "moto" character. The E-Fine is built to handle demanding terrain, featuring a robust frame, heavy-duty forks and shocks, powerful brakes, and aggressive tires. The e-bike system provides pedal assistance, meaning the electric motor amplifies the rider's pedaling effort, making climbs easier and extending the range of rides. The motor drive unit depends on the pedaling force and chosen assistance level, and it will cut off once the bike reaches a maximum speed of 25km/h. The system is designed to be reliable and easily accessible for service, with NS Bikes choosing to work with Shimano for its components and customer service.

Usage Features

General Riding Information:

  • Safety First: Always ride with caution, wear a helmet, and use appropriate protective eyewear, clothing, and footwear. Ensure the bike is clean and well-maintained.
  • Pre-Ride Check: Conduct a pre-ride check before every ride, inspecting for any technical problems or loose components.
  • Gear Selection: The E-Fine is equipped with gears that allow for optimal cadence and pedaling efficiency across various terrains. Use lower gears for uphill climbs and higher gears for downhill descents.
  • Braking: Be careful with the brakes, as they are powerful and can cause a crash if applied too aggressively. Practice braking in a safe environment.
  • Suspension: The suspension system is designed to absorb impacts and improve control. Adjusting the suspension settings can alter the handling and braking characteristics of the bicycle. Consult the suspension manufacturer's instructions for proper setup.
  • Theft Prevention: Always lock your bike when unattended.

E-Bike Specifics:

  • Pedal Assist System: The E-Fine is an electric pedal-assist bike, meaning the motor only provides assistance when the rider is pedaling.
  • Battery: Use only the battery pack and charger recommended by the manufacturer. Do not use other batteries or chargers. The battery is considered a dangerous good for transport and must be handled and shipped according to regulations.
  • Motor System: Do not modify the bicycle drive system in any way. Any modifications can void the warranty and create unsafe operating conditions.
  • Speed Limit: The electric assist will cut off once the bike reaches 25km/h.

Removing Battery:

  1. Insert a 4mm Hexagon wrench.
  2. Support the battery with your hand and turn the 4mm Hexagon wrench counter-clockwise. The first ratchet is unlocked, but the battery is still locked by the second ratchet.
  3. Push the ratchet button. The second ratchet is unlocked.
  4. You can now remove the battery.

Maintenance Features

Maintenance & Periodical Safety Checks: Regular maintenance is crucial for the safety and longevity of the E-Fine.

  • Pre-Ride Check: Perform a thorough pre-ride check before every ride, including:
    • Frame and Fork: Check for any damage, cracks, or deformation.
    • Wheels and Tires: Ensure wheels are true, tires are correctly inflated, and quick releases/axles are tight.
    • Brakes: Check brake function, lever engagement, and pad wear.
    • Steering System: Ensure the handlebar, stem, headset, and fork are tight and properly adjusted.
    • Drivetrain: Check chain, chain tension, derailleur function, and crankset.
    • Suspension: Inspect the suspension system for damage or cracks.
  • Tightening Torque: Regularly check and re-tighten all bolts to the specified torque values. Incorrect tightening can lead to component failure, which can cause serious injury.
  • Cleaning: Keep the bike clean, especially after muddy rides. Avoid high-pressure washing directly on bearings or electrical components.
  • Lubrication: Lubricate the chain and other moving parts as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Professional Service: For any serious repairs, adjustments, or maintenance beyond your expertise, consult a qualified bicycle mechanic or an authorized NS Bikes dealer.
  • Battery Care: Follow the manufacturer's instructions for battery charging, storage, and handling.
  • Replacement Parts: Use only genuine NS Bikes replacement parts to ensure compatibility and safety. An exploded view and list of replacement parts are provided in the manual.

Warranty: NS Bikes provides a warranty for their products. The warranty period and conditions are detailed in the manual, covering manufacturing defects and workmanship. It is important to register the purchase and keep proof of purchase for warranty claims. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, damage from misuse, abuse, neglect, or unauthorized modifications.

Declaration of Conformity: The NS Bikes E-Fine complies with European directives (Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC & CE, EMC Directive 2014/30/EC) and standards (PN-EN ISO 12100:2011-03, PN-EN 15194:2017-12). The manufacturer is 7ANNA Group Sp. z o.o., located in Gdańsk, Poland.
