Overview

The WVP 800 DH is a specialized vacuum designed for the cleaning and maintenance of fish ponds. Its primary function is to efficiently remove liquid and debris from ponds, ensuring a clean and healthy aquatic environment. The device operates by sucking up water and waste, automatically emptying its contents via a discharge hose once full. This automatic emptying feature is a key aspect of its design, allowing for continuous operation without the need for manual intervention to empty the drum.

One of the main usage features of the WVP 800 DH is its comprehensive set of accessories, which facilitate various cleaning tasks. The core unit, the WVP 800 DH itself, is complemented by a 4-meter discharge hose, four 76mm locking castors, a 2.5-meter vacuum hose/bend assembly, four 32mm plastic extension tubes, a wet pick-up nozzle, and a nozzle cleaner with a slide-on brush. These components are designed for easy assembly and versatile use.

Setting up the vacuum involves a straightforward process. First, the 2.5-meter hose/bend assembly is connected to the hose inlet on the front of the drum assembly. Next, the four 32mm plastic extension tubes are connected together and then fitted into the 32mm plastic bend at the end of the hose. The wet pick-up nozzle is then attached to the end of the extension tube. For waste disposal, the 4-meter discharge hose, which features a screw fitting, is connected to the rear of the drum assembly. It is crucial to fully uncoil the discharge hose and place it into a suitable drainage system that is lower than the vacuum for effective operation.

Once assembled, the vacuum unit should be moved into position on level ground. The four locking castors play a vital role here, as their locking mechanisms must be pushed down to secure the unit in place, preventing accidental movement during operation. Before plugging the mains lead into a power outlet, it is essential to ensure that the power switch on the vacuum unit is off. For enhanced safety, it is recommended to connect the vacuum to a Residual Current Device (R.C.D) rated at 30 Milli Amps before connecting to the main power supply. After these steps, the vacuum switch can be turned on, and the extension tubes with the wet pick-up nozzle can be lowered into the pond to begin cleaning.

The vacuum's operation involves sucking up liquid and debris from the pond. When the drum is full, it automatically empties its contents through the discharge hose. The quantities of water and waste being picked up can be adjusted by manipulating the auxiliary air inlet located on the plastic bend. It is important to note that the vacuum switch will need to be turned off before further vacuuming commences after an automatic emptying cycle, suggesting a brief pause might be required for optimal performance or to reset the system.

Beyond general pond cleaning, the WVP 800 DH also offers features for cleaning the sides of the pond. This involves a slightly different setup. The wet pick-up nozzle and extension tubes are removed from the hose assembly. The slide-on brush is then connected to the nozzle cleaner, which is attached to the end of the curved wand section. For deeper ponds, one or more straight wand sections can be added to extend the reach. Before operating, the slide valve on the wand section must be fully open. With the vacuum turned on, the brush assembly is placed into the pond, allowing users to scrub the pond sides to remove algae and grime effectively.

Maintenance features for the WVP 800 DH primarily involve ensuring its longevity and effective operation. One key aspect mentioned is that sometimes sediment may settle in the bottom of the drum assembly. This issue can be easily rectified by flushing the unit through with clean water, which helps to clear any accumulated debris and maintain the vacuum's performance.

Several important safety and usage guidelines are provided to ensure safe and effective operation. The vacuum is specifically intended for cleaning and maintenance of fish ponds and should not be used for other purposes. It must always be secured in place on level ground using the locking castors. The use of extension leads greater than 10 meters is prohibited, likely to prevent power loss or safety hazards. Crucially, the vacuum should not be used for the removal of hazardous or volatile substances, emphasizing its specialized design for pond environments. Children should not be allowed near the pond when the vacuum is in use, nor should they be permitted to operate the machine. A critical safety instruction is to never use the machine in or around the pond unless a Residual Current Device (R.C.D) is fitted, highlighting the importance of electrical safety when working with water. The manufacturer also explicitly states that they cannot accept responsibility for loss of stock or damage to ponds while using this machine, underscoring the user's responsibility in following the instructions and ensuring proper operation.

In summary, the WVP 800 DH is a purpose-built pond vacuum cleaner designed for ease of use, efficient cleaning, and safe operation. Its automatic emptying function, versatile accessory set, and clear setup instructions make it a practical tool for pond maintenance. Adherence to the provided safety guidelines and basic maintenance practices, such as flushing the drum, will ensure its effective and safe use over time.
