This document describes the Nutool MP185 and MPL185 circular saws, providing essential information on their function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.
Function Description
The Nutool MP185 and MPL185 are handheld circular saws designed for cutting wood and wood-type products. They are equipped with a circular blade for efficient and precise cuts. The MPL185 model includes a laser function for enhanced cutting accuracy. Both models feature a dust extraction outlet to help keep the work area clean and reduce exposure to hazardous dust. The saws are designed for two-handed operation to ensure safety and control during use. They allow for adjustable cutting depth and angle, making them versatile for various cutting tasks, including parallel cuts with the aid of a cutting guide.

Usage Features
The Nutool circular saws offer several features to enhance usability and safety:
- Two-Handed Operation: Essential for safe and controlled use, preventing accidental cuts and kickback.
- Adjustable Cutting Depth: The cutting depth can be adjusted to match the thickness of the workpiece. This is done by slackening a lever on the side of the machine and measuring the required depth from the base plate to the highest point of the blade or using the depth gauge on the fixed guard.
- Adjustable Cutting Angle (0-45°): A locking lever at the front of the machine allows the base plate assembly to rotate, enabling cuts at angles between 0° and 45°. Notches marked 90° and 45° on the base plate serve as guides for blade positioning.
- Parallel Cutting Guide: A parallel cutting guide is supplied with the machine, fitting to the front and secured by a locking knob, to improve accuracy for straight cuts.
- Kickback Prevention: The manual emphasizes maintaining a firm grip with both hands, positioning the body to the side of the blade, and supporting large panels properly to minimize blade pinching and kickback. Releasing the trigger immediately if the blade binds is crucial.
- Lower Guard Safety: The lower guard must close freely and instantly before each use. It should never be clamped or tied in an open position. Manual retraction of the lower guard is only for special cuts like "plunge cuts" and "compound cuts."
- Laser Function (MPL185): This feature provides a visual guide for cutting, improving accuracy.
- Dust Extraction: The saws include a dust extraction outlet, which should be used in conjunction with an approved face mask with replaceable filters, especially when cutting materials like MDF that produce hazardous dust.
Maintenance Features
Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the Nutool circular saws:
- Blade Replacement: Always ensure the saw is disconnected from the mains supply before changing the blade. The blade is extremely sharp and requires careful handling. The blade guard must be rotated to the fully open position and secured. The spindle lock is depressed, and the hex socket screw is unscrewed (anti-clockwise) using the supplied key. When fitting a new blade, ensure the rotation direction arrow on the blade aligns with the arrow on the fixed guard. The hex socket screw must be tightened securely but not overtightened.
- General Tool Maintenance: Keep cutting tools sharp and clean for better and safer performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. Handles should be kept dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Ventilation slots must be kept clean and free from dust to prevent overheating and motor damage.
- Power Cord Inspection: The power cord and any extension cords should be inspected periodically for damage and replaced by an authorized service center if necessary. Extension cords should be fully unwound and protected from sharp objects, excessive heat, and moisture.
- Safety Guard Checks: Before each use, all guards and safety devices must be checked to ensure they are in place and functioning correctly. Any damaged parts, especially safety guards, must be repaired or replaced by an authorized service center.
- Storage: When not in use, power tools should be stored in a dry, locked cabinet or room, out of reach of children and pets.
- Qualified Personnel for Repairs: All repairs must be carried out by qualified personnel using original spare parts to ensure compliance with national and international standards and safety requirements. Failure to do so can pose a significant danger to the user.
