The NutriChef NCDH6S is a premium food dehydrator machine designed for domestic use, offering an efficient and convenient way to preserve various foods. This appliance features an automatic fan that circulates warm air, ensuring an evenly dried product. It's ideal for preserving fruits, snacks, vegetables, bread, and flowers, allowing users to enjoy dried foods that retain most of their nutritional value and flavor.
Function Description:
The NCDH6S dehydrator operates by circulating warm air through its interior, gradually removing moisture from food items placed on its trays. This process is controlled by a digital timer and temperature control system, allowing users to set precise drying conditions. The unit is equipped with a heating element, motor, and fan, all housed within a sturdy stainless steel body with a glass front door, enabling users to monitor the drying process without opening the door. The 360° hot air circulation ensures consistent drying across all trays.
Usage Features:
- Trays and Capacity: The dehydrator comes with six stainless steel trays, each measuring 330x305mm. Each tray can hold up to 0.3kgs of food. For thicker food items, one or more trays can be removed to increase the height between the remaining trays, providing flexibility for different food types and sizes. The unit also includes a mesh screen and a fruit roll sheet for specialized drying needs.
- Control Panel: The dehydrator features a touch-control LED display with intuitive buttons.
- START/STOP: This button initiates or pauses the dehydrator's operation. When pressed, the LED screen lights up, and a beep sound confirms startup. The default settings are 10 hours and 158°F (70°C).
- TEMP/TIME: Pressing this button once allows users to adjust the temperature using the
+ and - buttons. Pressing it a second time enables adjustment of the drying time with the same + and - buttons.
- Temperature Control: The temperature can be set between 95°F and 167°F (35°C–75°C). The temperature increment or decrement is 9°F per press. Holding the
+ or - button will cause the temperature to increase or decrease automatically. Lower temperatures are recommended for thin/small pieces of food or small loads, while higher temperatures are suitable for thick/big pieces and large loads. The thermostat can also be used to decrease the temperature towards the end of the drying cycle to fine-tune the final moisture level.
- Timer Function: The drying time can be set from 30 minutes to 24 hours. The time increment or decrement is 30 minutes per press. Similar to temperature control, holding the
+ or - button will automatically adjust the time.
- Automatic Shutoff and Overheat Protection: The dehydrator includes an automatic shutoff feature. When the set time counts down to 0000, the heating element stops working, and the fan continues to run for 10 seconds, followed by 20 "beep" sounds (1 beep per second). This ensures proper cooling and signals the end of the drying cycle. The unit also has built-in overheat protection for safety.
- Memory Function: The device is equipped with a memory function, which can be useful in case of power interruptions.
- Door Magnetic Induction: The switch door features magnetic induction, ensuring the door is securely closed during operation, which helps maintain consistent drying conditions.
- Pre-treatment and Drying Tips:
- It is recommended to check food every hour and rotate or re-stack trays if uneven drying is observed.
- Labeling food with contents, date, and weight before drying, along with noting the drying time, can help improve future drying techniques.
- Pretreated food generally yields the best drying results.
- Proper food storage after drying is crucial for maintaining quality and preserving nutrients.
- Continuous Operation: The appliance should not be run for more than 24 hours in a single use. After 24 hours, it should be unplugged and allowed to cool down for at least 2 hours before operating again.
Maintenance Features:
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, all parts of the appliance, including the 6 trays, damper door, and slag pans, should be wiped with a lightly moistened cloth and detergent as needed. The host part (motor/fan unit) should not be immersed in water or other liquids. After cleaning, the unit should be run for 30 minutes without food to eliminate any initial smoke or smells, ensuring sufficient ventilation.
- Regular Cleaning: After each use, the dehydrator should be unplugged and allowed to cool down. A soft brush can be used to remove any food sticking to the trays. All parts should be dried with a dry cloth before storage. The body surface can be cleaned with a wet cloth, and paper towels can be used to remove excess marinade. Aggressive chemicals or abrasives should not be used to avoid damaging the surface.
- Tray Cleaning: The trays are designed to be easy to clean.
- Storage: Dried food should only be stored after it has cooled down. For optimal preservation, food should be stored in a cool, dry, and dark place, with all air removed from the storage container, which should be tightly sealed. The ideal storage temperature is 15°C/59°F or lower. Metal containers should be avoided, as should containers that "breathe" or have a weak seal. It is important to check dried food for moisture during the weeks following dehydration; if moisture is present, the food should be dehydrated for a longer time to prevent spoilage. Dried fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts, and bread should ideally not be kept for more than 1 year (if refrigerated or frozen), while dried meats, poultry, and fish should be stored for no more than 3 months (if refrigerated) or 1 year (if frozen).
