Why won't my Oleo-Mac BC 420 Trimmer engine start or stay running?

  If your Oleo-Mac Trimmer engine won't start or cuts off shortly after starting, there could be two main reasons: either there's no spark, or the engine is flooded. To fix this, first check the spark at the spark plug tip. If there's no spark, try again with a new BPMR7A spark plug. If that doesn't work, follow the procedure on page 28. If the engine still won't start, repeat the process using a new spark plug.

  If your Oleo-Mac Trimmer engine won't start or cuts off shortly after starting, it might be due to a lack of spark or a flooded engine. Check for a spark at the spark plug tip, and if there's none, try a new BPMR7A spark plug. Also, you can follow the procedure on page 28. If it still fails, try the procedure again with a new spark plug.

  If your Oleo-Mac Trimmer engine doesn't reach full speed and/or emits excessive smoke, start by checking the oil/fuel mixture and ensure you're using fresh gasoline and the correct 2-stroke oil. Also, clean the air filter following the instructions in the Maintenance-Air Filter section. If the problem persists, the carburetor might need adjustment.
