DRAINING THE WATER HEATER
Freeze damage is the most common defect aecting portable water heat-
ers and is not covered by the warranty. Freeze damage can easily be pre-
vented by manually draining the water heater and storing it in a warm place
when not in use.
During freezing temperatures, ensure the water heater is properly drained
by following these steps:
Shut o the incoming water supply and the gas supply.
Use a at-head screwdriver to turn the drain valve stem (located at
the bottom of the water heater) counter-clockwise until water starts
to drain.
Disconnect the water inlet and outlet lines.
Using an air compressor, blow compressed air into the water inlet to
drain any excess water remaining in the heat exchanger piping. This
ensures the water heater is completely drained of water and will pre-
vent the internal piping from freezing and possibly bursting in cold
temperatures.
Store in a warm area.
