Overview

The OptiPure Manifold Series QT, QTI, QTC, QTCR is a foodservice filtration system designed to cleanse and condition tap water, providing optimal water characteristics for specific applications. This system aims to reduce equipment maintenance, extend equipment life, and improve the quality and consistency of products. It is built with advanced materials, quality inspected, and pressure tested prior to shipment to ensure trouble-free operation and performance with proper installation and routine filter changes.

Function Description:

The OptiPure system filters water to reduce particulates, chlorine, taste, and odor. Certain models also include scale inhibitor media (IsoNet® technology) and/or provide reduction of chloramine and cysts. The system utilizes a Multi-Function Valve that allows the user to turn off the water, operate in bypass mode, or control the water flow path during normal operation. This valve features white handles that clearly indicate the flow path. In the operating (service) position, feed water flows from the INLET port into the filter system, and treated water flows out to the OUTLET port, with the bypass path blocked. In the off position, inlet water is stopped before entering the system. In the bypass position, inlet water is diverted directly to the OUTLET port, bypassing the filters entirely. This bypass mode is intended for use when filtration issues occur, as it provides untreated water to the equipment. The system is designed for use with cold water supply only, not exceeding 100°F/38°C.

Important Technical Specifications:

    • QT-4 / QTI-4 / QTC-4 / QTCR-4: Approximately 23 3/8" wide x 23 1/4" high.
    • QT-4 Systems full of water can weigh up to 35 lbs.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: Must conform to local plumbing codes. Connect to cold water supply only. Do not solder plumbing connections attached to the assembly to prevent damage. Avoid over-tightening fittings; always back-up valves and fittings with a wrench. Allow a minimum of 3” under the housing for sump removal and filter replacement. Do not mount near heat sources, above electrical wiring, or in areas susceptible to water damage. Ensure easy accessibility for filter replacement.
  • Multi-Function Valve: Allows for easy switching between operating, off, and bypass positions. A wrench is included to assist in rotating the valve handles.
  • Alternate Outlet Locations: The system offers flexibility in treated water outlet locations. The outlet fitting can be switched to the opposite end of the manifold if inlet and outlet connections are needed on opposite sides of the system. This involves removing a clip and fitting.
  • Flushing System: Flushing is recommended before connecting to equipment to allow air to escape and remove carbon fines. This can be done via an optional flush valve assembly, a tee with a shut-off valve on the outlet line, or by using the outlet tubing directly.
  • Filter Cartridge Replacement: Cartridges are turned 1/4 turn to the left to remove and 1/4 turn to the right to secure. New cartridges are aligned using an upward arrow on the cartridge and the side of the connection (or a key feature).

Maintenance Features:

  • Filter Change Frequency: Filters should be changed at the gallon rating, at least every 6 months, or when the pressure gauge needle enters the red zone while water is flowing. If pressure drop necessitates changes more frequently than 6 months, additional prefiltration or system resizing may be required.
  • Pressure Gauge Monitoring: Periodically monitor the pressure gauge. A needle in the red zone indicates clogged filters.
  • Replacement Cartridges: Only OptiPure replacement cartridges should be used to maintain warranties, certifications, and ensure optimal performance. Using other cartridges will void warranties and may compromise equipment protection, water quality, and cartridge life.
  • FilterTrak® System: An online application that enables low-maintenance service and filter monitoring. It helps manage timely and proper filter replacement, reducing maintenance, improving operating efficiency, and assuring water quality for ice, beverages, and steam generating systems. The process involves registration, receiving change notices, placing orders (auto-ship or manual), shipping filters, changing filters, and acknowledging the change.
  • Warranty: All system components (except consumables like filter cartridges, membranes, pumps, and motors) are warranted against defects in workmanship for 60 months. Consumables have specific warranty terms (e.g., 12 months for pumps/motors, filter cartridges for material/workmanship only). Warranty is voided if products are not installed/operated according to guidelines, or if non-OptiPure replacement parts are used.
