Use this table to see possible solutions for problems with the string trimmer. If these suggestions do not

Trimmer/Edger
does not cut
properly
Grass wound between
shaft and trimmer head

Spool empty See “Replacing Trimmer Line”.
Trimmer line
does not feed
Spool empty See “Replacing Trimmer Line”.
Trimmer line tangled
Remove the trimmer line from the spool, untangle,
and rewind. See “Replacing Trimmer Line”.
Trimmer line wears
out quickly
Higher cutting speed than
necessary
Apply less pressure to the variable speed trigger.
Improper cutting
technique
Avoid forcing the trimmer head against hard surfaces.
Slowly move the trimmer head in until the edge of the
trimmer line strikes the grass or weeds.
Trimmer/Edger
vibrates excessively
during use
Trimmer head damaged See “Removing and Replacing the Trimmer Head”.
Trimmer head cover not
seated properly
Remove the trimmer head cover and reinstall
making sure that the tabs on the cover line up with
the slots on the trimmer head. See “Reassembling
the Trimmer Head”.

is frayed, ragged, or
unevenly cut
