The OREI UHD-EX230A-K is an 18Gbps HDMI Extender with Power over Cable (POC) functionality, designed to extend HDMI HD and IR control signals over long distances. This device allows for uncompressed, zero-delay transmission of video and audio signals up to 230 feet (70 meters) using a single CAT6/6a cable. It supports high video resolutions up to 4K2K@60Hz and includes EDID copy pass-through, making it suitable for various applications such as multi-media conference halls, TV teaching, and large-screen displays.
Function Description:
The extender system consists of a Transmitter and a Receiver unit. The Transmitter takes an HDMI input from a source device and converts it for transmission over a CAT6/6a cable. It also features an HDMI loop output, allowing a local display to be connected. The Receiver unit takes the signal from the CAT6/6a cable and outputs it to an HDMI display device. Both units support bi-directional IR control signal pass-through, enabling control of the source device from the display location or vice versa. The POC function means that only one unit (either Transmitter or Receiver) needs to be powered by the included 12V/1A locking power adapter, simplifying installation.
The device is HDMI2.0b and HDCP 2.2 compliant, ensuring compatibility with modern HDMI equipment and content protection standards. It supports a wide range of video formats and features, including HDR, HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG, providing high-quality visual experiences. For audio, it supports LPCM 7.1CH, Dolby True HD, and DTS-HD Master via HDMI. Additionally, the Receiver unit includes an optical fiber port (TOSLINK) for audio de-embedding, allowing audio to be output to an external amplifier in formats like Dolby 5.1, DTS 5.1, and PCM 2.0.
EDID management is flexible, with a DIP switch on the Transmitter allowing users to set EDID preferences. Options include copying EDID from the connected display at the Receiver (RX), preset EDID for 4K@60Hz Stereo, preset EDID for 1080p Stereo, or copying EDID from the HDMI OUT port at the Transmitter (TX). The Receiver also features an ARC (Audio Return Channel) DIP switch, enabling or disabling the ARC function, which allows audio from the display to be sent back to the Receiver's TOSLINK port.

- Bi-directional IR Pass-through: Allows control of the source device from the display location or the display device from the source location using IR blaster and receiver cables. The IR receiver cable has a transmission distance of 0-5 meters when the angle between the receiver and remote is ±45°, and 0-8 meters when the angle is ±90°.
- EDID Management: A DIP switch on the Transmitter provides flexible EDID settings, including copying from the RX display or TX HDMI OUT, or using preset 4K@60Hz Stereo or 1080p Stereo EDID.
- ARC Functionality: The Receiver supports Audio Return Channel, allowing audio from the connected display to be sent back to the Receiver and output via its TOSLINK port to an audio amplifier. This function can be enabled or disabled via a DIP switch.
- Link Signal Indicator (Green LED): Provides visual feedback on the connection status between the Transmitter and Receiver:
- Illuminating: Good connection.
- Flashing: Poor connection.
- Dark: Not connected.
