LINER SIZE SELECTION
Follow the steps listed below to provide the patient with a first experience
of using a liner and avoid the risk of an uncomfortable degree of
compression:
. For trans-tibial amputees, determine the correct liner size by bending
the knee slightly, allowing the soft tissue to hang down.
. Measure  cm above the distal end of the residual limb. Make a small
mark on the dressing/ residual limb.
. Measure the circumference of the residual limb at the mark to
determine the correct liner size (Fig. ).
. Select a liner matching the actual circumference measured, or the
next available smaller size.
Example:
If the residual limb measures , cm at the indicated location, choose
liner size , instead of size .
COMPRESSION THERAPY
Wound Dressing
Place a bandage over the wound area. An occlusive dressing is favorable
for effective wound healing. Use an absorbent dressing (Fig. ).
