3 Intended use
The safe use of the product can only be ensured in case of intended use in accordance with the information con
tained in these instructions for use. The user is ultimately responsible for accident-free operation.
3.1 Indications for use
The wheelchair is intended for everyday indoor and outdoor use, by the user or an attendant, of people with tem
porary or permanent limitations of the ability to walk, inability to walk or difficulty standing up.
The product is suitable for users with intact skin whose anatomy (suchas body dimensions and weight) permits the
intended use of the product.
The wheelchair may only be used with the options listed on the product order form.
Ottobock assumes no liability for combinations with medical devices and/or accessories from other manufacturers
outside the modular system.
Combinations based on a combination agreement that have been evaluated for effectiveness and safety are an
exception to this.
3.1.1 Special features of the CLT and CLT Ultra options
When fitted with the CLT option, the wheelchair features a permanently welded drive wheel adapter for mounting
the drive wheel; when fitted with the CLT Ultra option, the wheelchair additionally features a permanently welded
back. In these weight-saving versions, the drive wheel and back height cannot be subsequently adjusted. Further
more, installation of certain options (e.g. anti-tipper) is not possible with these versions.
For these reasons, these wheelchair versions are intended only for experienced users with sporting ambitions who,
thanks to their physiological capabilities, are able to handle the wheelchair proficiently. Before supplying one of
these versions, the user should be examined intensively for suitability (adequate physiological capabilities).
