Do you have a question about the Otto Bock Taleo Adjust 1C56 and is the answer not in the manual?
The Ottobock 1C56 Taleo Adjust prosthetic foot is designed for lower limb exoprosthetic fittings, offering a stepless heel height adjustment from 0 mm to 70 mm, allowing users to wear shoes with various heel heights. For sizes 27 and 28, the maximum heel height is limited to 25 mm.
The prosthetic foot incorporates carbon and polymer spring elements that provide perceptible plantar flexion at heel strike, facilitating a natural rollover motion, and delivering high energy return. A removable heel wedge is included to absorb heel strike forces. This component is compatible with Ottobock's modular system, though its functionality with components from other manufacturers that use compatible modular connectors has not been tested.
The product is recommended for mobility grades 2 (restricted outdoor walkers) and 3 (unrestricted outdoor walkers). Spring stiffness varies based on body weight and load level, as detailed in the following table:
| Body weight [kg] | Low load level | Medium load level |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 51 | 1 | 2 |
| 52 to 58 | 2 | 3 |
| 59 to 67 | 3 | 4 |
| 68 to 77 | 4 | 5 |
| 78 to 88 | 5 | 6 |
| 89 to 100 | 6 | 7 |
| 101 to 115 | 7 |
The prosthetic foot has a maximum lifetime of 3 years, depending on the patient's activity level. The footshell and protective sock are wear parts subject to normal wear and tear.
The static alignment of the Taleo Adjust is a two-stage process, both stages must be completed to set the minimum and maximum heel height. Ottobock recommends using the L.A.S.A.R. Posture system to check prosthesis alignment during both stages.
For users requiring greater safety (e.g., mobility grade 2), the foot can be shifted approximately 1 cm anteriorly during bench alignment, which extends the forefoot and enhances knee securing.
The heel wedge's hardness, indicated by its color (see Fig. 3), can be exchanged to adapt the prosthetic foot's behavior during heel strike and mid-stance heel contact. Ottobock recommends starting with the preinstalled heel wedge. To replace, bend the prosthetic foot slightly, remove the old wedge, align the new wedge with the Ottobock lettering upright and the tip pointing anteriorly, then insert the tip into the front part of the frame and push the wedge into the rear part of the frame.
The heel height can be smoothly adjusted from 0 mm to 70 mm (maximum 25 mm for sizes 27 and 28). This adjustment is performed while seated.
