•Lookatthehandle,grabitandpullsotheretainingpinsarereleased.Theparachutecanonlybethrownwiththerighthand
•Pulloutthedeploymentbag,itisbesttopulltowardstheoutsidesothattheparachuteextractssidewaysfromthepocket,pulling
thehandleupwardsmaynotallowtheparachutetoreleaseproperly.Knowyourequipmentandadaptyourtechniqueaccordingly
•Throwtheparachuteawayfromyouashardasyoucanintoclearspace,nottowardsyourwing.Itisimportantatthisstageto
remembertoLETGOofthehandle.Aimtothrowwiththedirectionofairowtoaidafastopeningandagainstthedirectionof
rotation
•Ifafterthrowingtheparachutedoesnotdeploy(possibleinlowenergyemergenciese.g.parachutalstall),grabthereservebridle
andgiveitastrongpull.Thiswillhelpencouragetheparachutetoopenfaster
•Astheparachutedeploys,thenextstageistoconcentrateondisablingtheparaglider.Thereareseveralwaystodothis–Bline
stall;rearriserstall;gatheringthecanopybyworkinguptheAlinesuntilyouhavethematerialinyourhandsorusingthebrakes
tostallthewing.Thebesttechniquedependsentirelyonthesituation.Themostimportantthingtorememberistocompletely
disablethewingsothatitdoesnotactagainsttheparachuteandcauseadown-plane.Whichevermethodyouchoosedoso
symmetrically,youdonotwanttheparaglidertostartrotating,thiscouldcausetheparaglidertoyintoandeffectivelydisable
theparachute
•Duetothepositionofthereservebridlehangpointsonmostharness,deployingthereserveparachutetendstoautomaticallyput
youintothePLFposition(legsdown),ifyouarenot,doeverythingyoucantogetyourselfintothispositionsoyoucanabsorbthe
landingimpactwithyourlegs
•AlwaysuseaPLFwhenlandingunderemergencysituationsorunderarescueparachute
