This document describes the K-NL316K/G Network Disk Recorder, providing a quick start guide for its installation, operation, and maintenance.
Function Description:
The K-NL316K/G is a Network Disk Recorder (NVR) designed for video surveillance systems. It supports recording, playback, and management of network cameras. The device offers both GUI (Graphical User Interface) and Web-based operation for local and remote access. Key functions include hardware installation, connection to various peripherals, user login and account management, remote device configuration, schedule-based recording, and real-time playback. It also supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) for connecting and powering compatible network cameras.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Model Number: K-NL316K/G
- Power Input: AC 100~240V
- Network Interface: 10M/100M/1000Mbps self-adaptive Ethernet port.

- Serial Ports: RS-485 (A and B) for controlling speed dome PTZ devices, and RS-232 COM for debug, IP address configuration, or transparent COM data transfer.
- eSATA Port: For connecting external SATA devices.
- Controller 12V Power Output: For controlling on-off alarm relay output or powering alarm detectors.
- +12V Power Output Port: Provides power to peripheral devices like cameras or alarm devices (supplying power shall be below 1A).
- HDD Support: Compatible with specific HDD models (refer to HDD Compatibility Chart provided by dealer).
Usage Features:
- Hardware Installation: Includes steps for checking unpacked NVR, understanding front and rear panels, chassis removal, and HDD installation. Users are advised to turn off power before replacing HDDs.
- GUI Operation:
- Login: Default username is ADMIN, password is 12345. Users are strongly advised to change the password after the first login for security. Three login failures within 30 minutes result in a system alarm, and five failures lock the account.
- Startup Wizard: Guides users through initial setup, including General, Network, Remote Device, and Record Control settings. Can be enabled or disabled for subsequent boots.
- Remote Device Management: Allows searching, adding, and configuring IP cameras. Supports batch add function. Manual add function is available for Panasonic, custom, and other camera types, requiring URL, username, and password.
- Schedule Recording: Configurable recording schedules with six periods per day. Supports four record types: Regular, Motion Detection (MD), Alarm, and MD&Alarm. Features include pre-record (1-30 seconds), redundancy backup (requires at least one redundant HDD), and ANR (Automatic Network Replenishment) to save video to the network camera's SD card during network failures (0s-43200s).
- Real-time Playback: Allows playback of the previous 5-60 minutes of recorded video for the current channel. The time can be set in the system's general settings.
- Web Operation:
- Network Connection: Requires correct NVR and PC network setup. Users can ping the NVR IP address to check connectivity.
- Browser Compatibility: Supports various browsers like Safari, Firefox, and Google Chrome. Apple PC only supports 1-channel monitoring.
- Web Control Installation: System automatically downloads the latest web control. Users may need to adjust IE security settings if ActiveX files cannot be downloaded. An uninstall tool (
uninstall webrec2.0.bat) is provided.
- PoE Address Setup and Allocation: When a PoE device is inserted, the NVR attempts to set its IP address via ARP ping or DHCP. It then tries to log in to the newly found IPC. Channels are mapped based on saved MAC addresses or assigned to the first idle channel. If all channels are in use, a dialogue box allows selecting a channel to overwrite.
- Web Login: Similar to GUI login, with default ADMIN/12345 credentials.
- Main Window (LAN/WAN): Provides real-time video preview, playback, alarm management, setup, and information display.
Maintenance Features:
- Safeguards and Warnings: Emphasizes electrical safety (grounding, proper handling), transportation security (avoid heavy stress, vibration, water splash), correct installation (upwards, careful handling, no power before installation, no objects on NVR), and environment (cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, inflammable/explosive substances).
- Qualified Engineers: All examination and repair work should be performed by qualified service engineers.
- Accessories: Users should use all manufacturer-recommended accessories.
- Lithium Battery: Improper battery use can cause fire, explosion, or injury. Replace with the same model.
- Installation Environment: Keep away from extreme heat, direct sunlight, humidity, violent vibration. Do not place other devices on top of the NVR. Ensure good ventilation and do not block vents.
- Password Management: Crucial to modify the default password after the first login to enhance security.
- Troubleshooting: The manual serves as a reference tool for system operation. For detailed information, refer to the User's Manual on the resource CD.
- System Updates: The web interface can automatically download and update web control versions.
- HDD Management: The system supports HDD installation and redundancy for data backup.
