What to do if ECONAVI does not operate on my Panasonic NR-BY608X Refrigerator (the ECONAVI lamp does not light)?
    • M
      Michelle Anderson MDAug 21, 2025
If the ECONAVI lamp on your Panasonic Refrigerator doesn't light, a possible cause is a power failure. If a power failure occurs, the learning function data collected up until that point will be lost, and the ECONAVI operation will be performed rarely until the learning function has collected data again.

Why is ECONAVI operation performed too often on my Panasonic NR-BY608X Refrigerator?
    • T
      Terrance JonesSep 5, 2025
ECONAVI operating too frequently on your Panasonic Refrigerator can be due to several factors. Check if food is near the cold air duct. If the temperature control is set to 'Max', adjust it to 'Min'. Avoid placing food in the chilled case or activating 'Quick Freezing' mode. Ensure the freezer compartment's temperature setting isn't set to something other than 'Med'. Frequent door openings or hot food inside can also cause this. The learning function may disable ECONAVI during frequent use, and the auto defrost function can affect ECONAVI operation.

Overview

This document provides operating instructions for the Panasonic NR-BY608X Refrigerator, a household appliance featuring INVERTER and ECONAVI technologies.

Function Description

The Panasonic NR-BY608X is a refrigerator designed for household use, offering distinct compartments for refrigeration and freezing, along with a specialized Prime Fresh room. It utilizes an INVERTER system, which adjusts motor speed according to internal temperature changes, running at lower speeds for energy saving and noise reduction when stable, and at higher speeds for powerful cooling when needed. The ECONAVI operation automatically controls the refrigerator's function to save energy by detecting door opening/closing patterns and ambient brightness.

Usage Features

Temperature Control: The refrigerator offers adjustable temperature settings for the Fridge, Prime Fresh, and Freezer compartments, ranging from "Min" to "Max." For initial operation, it's recommended to set all controls to "Med" for 24 hours. A fine adjustment mode allows for 9 detailed temperature levels, particularly for the Freezer and Fridge rooms, accessible by holding down the respective control buttons.

Quick Freezing: This mode can be activated by pressing the "Freezer" button until the blue LED light turns on. It runs for 120 minutes (below 25°C ambient) or 150 minutes (above 25°C ambient) before returning to normal mode. It can be stopped manually by holding the "Freezer" button. The blue LED flashing indicates defrosting, after which quick freezing will commence.

ECONAVI Operation: This feature is automatically enabled when the freezer compartment temperature control is set to "Med." It learns the user's lifestyle patterns (door opening/closing frequency, time periods of infrequent use) over three weeks and applies this learning from the fourth week onwards to optimize energy saving. A light intensity sensor contributes to its operation. The ECONAVI lamp indicates when the feature is active.

Food Storage: The manual provides guidance on optimal storage locations for different food types:

  • Vegetable Case (Approx. 3°C-8°C): For fruits and vegetables, maintaining high humidity.
  • Refrigerator Compartment (Approx. 1°C-6°C): For readily served food and drinks.
  • Prime Fresh Case (Approx. -5°C to -1°C): For preserving meat in a lightly frozen condition.
  • Bottom Freezer Case (Approx. -23°C to -17°C): For extended storage of frozen or dried foods. Foods should be wrapped or packed to prevent dew, frost, and odor spread. Warm food should be cooled before storing.

Ice Making: The refrigerator includes an "Ice Twister" for making ice cubes. Users fill the twister with water up to the "WATER LEVEL" line, place it in the ice-making compartment, and then twist it clockwise to drop ice cubes into the ice box.

Usage Tips for Energy Saving:

  • Avoid overstuffing compartments to ensure proper cold air circulation.
  • Do not block cold air outlets.
  • Cool warm food and drinks before placing them in the refrigerator.
  • Minimize door opening frequency and duration.
  • Store items like uncut onions and potatoes in a cool, dark place rather than the refrigerator, unless in summer.
  • Use tightly sealed containers to prevent discoloration and odor spread.
  • An alarm sounds if the refrigerator or freezer door is left open for too long.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning: Regular cleaning is recommended for hygiene and optimal performance:

  • Interior Surfaces: Wipe stains immediately with lukewarm water, or a cloth lightly soaked in neutral kitchen detergent for stubborn stains.
  • Detachable Items: Trays, door shelves, and the ice twister should be removed and washed in lukewarm water periodically (e.g., ice twister weekly, others every three months).
  • Door Gasket: Clean at least once a month with a soft damp cloth. Petroleum gel on the hinge side should not be wiped off. The door gasket is replaceable by Panasonic Customer Care.
  • Prohibited Cleaning Agents: Do not use alkaline or faintly alkaline detergents, cleanser or soap powder, benzine, thinner, alcohol, acid, petroleum, scrubber, or hot water, as these can damage surfaces.

Removing and Re-installing Components for Cleaning:

  • Trays: Lift the rear side to unhook protrusions, then pull forward and rotate to remove. Re-install by reversing the steps. Note: Remove the vegetable case first before removing the tray above it.
  • Door Shelf: Lift upward, alternating sides, then press down onto supports to re-install.
  • Vegetable Case / Prime Fresh Case: Pull forward until it reaches the stopper, then lift the front slightly to remove. Insert into supports, slightly lift/tilt, and push forward to re-install.
  • Ice Twister (Ice Making Corner): Unhook the protrusion by lifting upward and pulling forward. Push back to re-install. The ice tray and ice box can be disassembled for increased freezer space.
  • Evap Pan (Backside of the Refrigerator): Tilt up and lift to unlock from the hook evap pan, then carefully take it out from under the evap pipe. Insert under the evap pipe and press-fit into the hook evap pan to re-install. Avoid damaging or deforming the evap pipe.

Safety Precautions for Maintenance:

  • Always disconnect the power plug from the outlet before cleaning or maintenance.
  • Wait 10 minutes after unplugging before plugging back in to prevent compressor issues.
  • Do not connect or disconnect the power plug with wet hands.

Disposal: The product conforms to e-waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2011, and contains hazardous substances within permissible limits. For recycling, return the product to an authorized Collection Centre, Dismantler, or Recycler. Do not dispose of by burning. The operating instructions should accompany the refrigerator if transferred or recycled.
