What to do if ECONAVI does not operate on my Panasonic Refrigerator (the ECONAVI lamp does not light)?
    • F
      Francis LunaAug 22, 2025
If the ECONAVI lamp on your Panasonic Refrigerator doesn't light, a possible cause is a power failure. If a power failure occurs, the learning function data collected up until that point will be lost, and the ECONAVI operation will be performed rarely until the learning function has collected data again.

Why is ECONAVI operation performed too often on my Panasonic NR-BY608XSMY Refrigerator?
    • J
      josephberrySep 6, 2025
ECONAVI operating too frequently on your Panasonic Refrigerator can be due to several factors. Check if food is near the cold air duct. If the temperature control is set to 'Max', adjust it to 'Min'. Avoid placing food in the chilled case or activating 'Quick Freezing' mode. Ensure the freezer compartment's temperature setting isn't set to something other than 'Med'. Frequent door openings or hot food inside can also cause this. The learning function may disable ECONAVI during frequent use, and the auto defrost function can affect ECONAVI operation.

Overview

This document provides operating instructions for the Panasonic NR-BY608X Refrigerator, a household appliance designed for efficient food storage and preservation. It emphasizes safety, proper installation, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Function Description

The Panasonic NR-BY608X is an inverter refrigerator with ECONAVI technology, designed to provide efficient cooling and energy saving. It features separate compartments for refrigeration and freezing, allowing for versatile storage of various food types. The inverter technology enables the motor to run at different speeds based on temperature changes inside the compartment. When the internal temperature is stable, the motor operates at a lower speed to save energy and reduce noise. Conversely, when powerful cooling is required, the motor runs at a higher speed. This dynamic adjustment ensures consistent cooling while optimizing energy consumption. The refrigerator uses non-flon materials for both refrigerant (iso-butane (R600a)) and insulation (Cyclo-Pentane), which are environmentally friendly and do not harm the earth's ozone layer.

Usage Features

The refrigerator offers a range of features to enhance usability and food preservation:

  • Temperature Control: The appliance allows for precise temperature adjustments in the Fridge, Prime Fresh, and Freezer compartments. Users can select from "Min," "Med," and "Max" levels for each compartment. For more granular control, a "Fine adjustment mode" is available for the Freezer room, offering 9 detailed temperature levels. This mode is accessed by setting the freezer to "Min," then pressing and holding the "Freezer" button for over 10 seconds. Similar fine adjustments can be made for the Fridge room.
  • Quick Freezing: This mode is activated by pressing the "Freezer" button until the blue LED light turns on. Quick Freezing starts after 10 seconds and automatically stops after 120 minutes (or 150 minutes if ambient temperature is above 25°C), returning to normal mode. This feature is ideal for rapidly freezing fresh food to lock in flavor and nutrients.
  • ECONAVI Operation: The refrigerator incorporates ECONAVI technology, which detects door opening/closing patterns and ambient brightness to automatically control operation and save energy. The ECONAVI lamp illuminates during operation. The system learns the family's lifestyle patterns over three weeks and applies this knowledge from the fourth week onwards to optimize energy usage. ECONAVI operation is automatically enabled when the freezer compartment temperature control is set to "Med" and is paused during quick freezing.
  • Refrigerator Compartment: The height of the second tray from the top can be adjusted to accommodate different-sized items. Trays can be removed by lifting the rear side and pulling them forward, then reinserted into desired positions.
  • Freezer Compartment: The bottom freezer case is designed for storing frozen and dried foods for extended periods. It includes an ice twister for convenient ice making. To make ice, users fill the ice twister tray to the "WATER LEVEL" line, place it back into the ice making compartment, and then twist the ice twister clockwise to drop ice cubes into the ice box.
  • Food Storage Guidelines: The manual provides recommendations for storing different food types in specific compartments to maintain freshness and quality. For instance, fruits and vegetables are best kept in the Vegetable Case, while dairy products and items that perish easily are suitable for the Chilled Case. The Prime Fresh Case is ideal for preserving meat in a lightly frozen condition.
  • Energy Saving Tips: To maximize energy efficiency, users are advised not to overstuff compartments, allow warm food to cool before storing, avoid blocking cold air outlets, and minimize door opening frequency and duration.
  • Door Alarm: The refrigerator features a door alarm that sounds if a door is left open for too long (e.g., double-beep after 1 minute, continuous double-beep after 5 minutes).

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the refrigerator's hygiene and performance:

  • General Cleaning: Stains on interior surfaces should be wiped off quickly with a damp cloth, especially cooking oil or citrus juice, which can cause damage or discoloration. For stubborn stains, a cloth lightly soaked in neutral kitchen detergent can be used, followed by a damp cloth wipe.
  • Detachable Items Cleaning: Trays, door shelves, and the ice twister should be removed and washed in lukewarm water periodically. The ice twister should be cleaned weekly, while other detachable items can be cleaned every three months.
  • Door Gasket Cleaning: The door gasket should be wiped with a soft damp cloth at least once a month. Users should be careful not to wipe off the petroleum gel applied to the hinge side of the unit. The door gasket is replaceable by an authorized service agent if it comes off during cleaning.
  • Removing and Re-installing Components: Detailed instructions are provided for removing and re-installing trays, door shelves, vegetable cases, chilled cases, the ice twister, and the evap pan for thorough cleaning. Before any cleaning or maintenance, the power plug must be disconnected from the wall outlet.
  • Prohibited Cleaning Items: Users are warned against using chemical substances, abrasive cleaners, or hot water, as these can damage the refrigerator's surface. This includes alkaline or faintly alkaline kitchen detergents, cleanser or soap powder, benzine, thinner, alcohol, acid, petroleum, and scrubbers.
