Recording

Cassette
Compartment,
insert
the
cassette.

cover.

"FAST

system
enables

listen,

the
earphone

the
sound

it

recorded.
The
monitor
level
can
be
adjusted

the

•When
recording,
previously
recorded
signals
on
the
tape
will
be
erased
automatically.
•Recording
can
be
started
during
playback
by
simply
pressing
the
REC
Button.
Silent
Auto-Stop
(RN-122)
When
the
tape
comes
its
end
during
playback
(or
recording),
the
tape
stops
moving
and
the
power
is
turned
off.
This
is
called
"Silent
Auto-Stop".
After
silent
auto-stop
functions,
be
sure
to
press
the
STOP/EJECT
Button.
Fast
Forward
and
Rewind
The
tape
will
rewind
rapidly
when
the
REW/REV
Button
is
pressed.
The
tape
will
move
forward
rapidly
when
the
FF/CUE
Button
is
pressed.
Notes
Batteries
installed
with
incorrect
polarities
may
leak
and
damage
this
unit.
•Do
not
mix
batteries
(old
and
new)
or
types
(carbon
and
alkaline.)
•If
the
set
is
not
used
for
a
long
period
of
time,
or
is
used
only
from
an
AC
power
source,
remove
all
the
batteries
to
prevent
potential
damage
due
to
possible
battery
leakage.
CUE
and
REVIEW
(when
the
PLAY
or
REC
Button
has
been
pressed.)
The
recorded
sound
can
be
monitored
at
a
fast
speed,
as
long
as
the
FF/CUE
or
REW/REV
Button
is
pressed.
•At
the
end
of
the
tape,
be
sure
to
press
the
STOP
Button.

•If

tape
reaches
its
end
except
playing
or
recording,
the
silent-stop
system
will
not
operate,
so
the
STOP/EJECT
Button
should
be
pushed
to
place
the
unit
in
the
stop
condition.

VAS
(Voice
Activated
System)
recording
(RN-122)
In
the
VAS
mode
of
operation,
the
recording
starts
automatically
when
sound
is
picked
up
by
the
microphone
and
stops
in
about
4
seconds
after
there
is
no
sound
picked
up
by
the
microphone.
This
feature
is
useful
to
minimize
tape
waste
and
lets
the
user
give
extra
thought
to
the
dication
without
the
interruption
of
manually
operating
the
start
and
stop
controls
while
recording.
•To
use
the
feature
set
the
VAS/PAUSE
Selector
to
"VAS".
•For
normal
recording
level
set
to
"4—7".
To
record
loud
sounds
only,
set
the
VOLUME
Control
to
“1
~3”.
To
record
soft
sounds,
set
it
to
“8~10‘\
No
sound
is
recorded
at
"0".
SLE
(Sound
Level
Equalizer)
recording
(RN-122)
SLE
improves
recording
In
remote
locations,
away
from
the
source.
This
is
helpful
in
class
and
conference
rooms.
The
SLE
Recording
Indicator
will
turn
to
be
green
that
recording
is
in
progress.
Fast
Play
Selector
Playback
speed
can
be
about
20%
faster
setting
the
FAST
PLAY
Selector
to
"FAST
PLAY".
Pause
The
tape
movement
can
be
stopped
temporarily
by
setting
the
PAUSE
Selector
to
"PAUSE".
To
resume
the
operation,
set
to
"OFF".
Do
not
set
to
"PAUSE"
for
a
long
time
to
prevent
the
deformation
of
the
Pressure
roller.
Tape
Counter
and
Reset
Button
(RN-122)
The
digits
returns
to
“000"
when
the
Reset
Button
is
pressed.
The
digits
advance
with
the
tape
to
provide
a
reference
to
quickly
find
a
desired
portion
of
tape.
•Avoid
using
or
placing
this
unit
near
sources
of
heat.
Do
not
leave
it
in
an
automobile
exposed
to
direct
sunlight
for
a
long
period
of
time
with
the
doors
and
windows
closed,
as
this
may
deform
the
cabinet.
•Avoid
spray-type
insecticides.
Some
insecticides
contain
chemic¬
als
that
could
cause
cabinet
deformation.
