Overview

Passwords Fast Device Manual

This document outlines the features and usage of the Passwords Fast device, a portable password manager designed for secure storage and easy access to your credentials.

Device Overview and Basic Operation

The Passwords Fast device features a compact design with a full QWERTY keyboard, a display screen, and dedicated function keys.

On/Off Button: Located on the device, this button is used to power the device on and off. A long press (a few seconds) is required for both actions. If the device fails to turn on, the manual suggests removing and re-inserting the battery.

Coin Battery Slot: The device is powered by a coin battery, accessible via a dedicated slot.

Plastic Film: Before initial use, a plastic film must be removed from the device.

Quick Start Video: A quick start video is available at www.passwordsfast.com for visual guidance.

Keyboard and Functionality

The device's keyboard includes standard alphanumeric keys, a Shift key, and several function-specific keys.

Fn (Function) Key: This key is central to accessing the device's extended functionalities.

  • Numbers and Symbols: The Fn key, when pressed and released, followed by a press and release of a corresponding blue-colored number or symbol on the keyboard, allows entry of those characters. Simultaneous pressing is not recommended.
  • Function Lock: A "long press" (1 second) of the Fn key enables Function Lock, allowing consecutive entry of numbers and symbols without repeatedly pressing Fn. Pressing Fn again unlocks this feature.
  • Fn - bksp (Delete Character): To delete a character, press Fn (let go), then bksp (let go). This moves the cursor to the left and removes the character at that position.
  • Fn - space (Add Space): To add a space, press Fn (let go), then space (let go). This moves the cursor to the right and inserts a space character.
  • Fn - Del (Delete Entry): This function allows you to delete an existing entry. After finding the desired entry using arrow keys or the search function, press Fn (let go), then Del (let go). Confirmation via Enter is required.
  • Fn - Add (Add Entry): To add a new entry, press Fn (let go), then Add (let go).
  • Fn - Opt (Device Options): Pressing Fn (let go), then Opt (let go) opens the Device Options screen, providing access to various settings.

Shift Key:

  • Capital Letters: Pressing Shift (let go), then the corresponding letter (let go), enters a capital letter. Simultaneous pressing is not recommended.
  • Shift Lock: A "long press" (1 second) of the Shift key enables Shift Lock, allowing consecutive entry of capital letters. Pressing Shift again unlocks this feature.

Esc Key: This key serves multiple purposes:

  • Previous Screen: Always returns to the previous screen.
  • Cancel Locks: Cancels both Function Lock and Shift Lock.

Search Button:

  • Search Function: Pressing the Search button allows you to enter a search phrase. After entering the phrase and pressing Enter, a list of matching entries will be displayed. Search phrases are not case-sensitive and can be partial words.

Getting Started and Device Password

Upon initial power-on, the device will prompt you to set up a device password.
