What to do if my PCM 2007 5.0L MPI Engine won't crank or cranks slowly?
    • L
      Lisa RichardsAug 12, 2025
If your PCM Engine won't crank or cranks slowly, there are several potential causes and solutions: * The battery switch might be turned OFF. Turn the battery switch ON. * The remote control may not be in Neutral. Position the remote control exactly in Neutral. * A fuse could be blown. Replace the ignition/starter fuse. * Wiring connections might be loose or dirty. Check the battery cables and starter circuit wiring, then clean and tighten all connections. * The battery could be dead. Recharge, test and replace the battery as necessary.

Why my PCM 2007 5.0L MPI cranks but won't start?
    • A
      alexandercastilloAug 15, 2025
If your PCM Engine cranks but doesn't start, consider the following possibilities: * The fuel tank may be empty. Check the fuel tank level and fill it if needed. * There might be no fuel reaching the throttle body (TBI) or injectors (MPI). Open any shut-off valves. * The engine could be flooded. Open the throttle 100% and crank the engine. * The fuel might be contaminated. Check the fuel for water or other contamination; if contaminated, drain and clean the fuel system.

What to do if my PCM Engine misses, runs rough, or backfires?
    • C
      Carol WilsonAug 23, 2025
If your PCM Engine is missing, running rough, or backfiring, consider these potential issues: * Plugged fuel filters. Replace the fuel filters. * Plugged or kinked fuel lines or a blocked fuel tank vent. Repair or replace the fuel lines. * A faulty anti-siphon valve. Remove any obstruction. * A dirty flame arrestor. Clean or replace the flame arrestor as needed.

How to improve poor PCM 2007 5.0L MPI Engine or boat performance?
    • J
      Jessica LeachAug 27, 2025
If you're experiencing poor PCM Engine or boat performance, check the following: * Ensure the throttle is fully open. Check the remote control and throttle body linkage for free movement and proper adjustment. * Inspect the propeller. Repair or replace it if damaged or improper. * Check for excessive water in the bilge. Pump the water out and find the source of the leak. * Examine the boat bottom for excessive growth. Clean the bottom and apply anti-fouling paint. * Avoid overloading the boat. Reduce and/or redistribute the load. * Clean the flame arrestor if it's dirty.

Why is the oil pressure low in my PCM Engine?
    • C
      Catherine MccallAug 31, 2025
If the oil pressure is low in your PCM Engine, consider these possible causes: * The oil level may be low. Add the specified oil. * The crankcase may be overfilled, causing oil aeration. Remove the required amount of oil. * The oil may be diluted or of an improper grade/viscosity. Change the oil and filter.

What causes transmission slipping or erratic operation in a PCM 2007 5.0L MPI Engine?
    • K
      Karla HarrisSep 3, 2025
If the transmission is slipping or operating erratically in your PCM Engine, check these items: * The oil level may be low. Add the specified oil. * The transmission might be overfilled, causing oil aeration. Drain the required amount of oil. * The transmission shift lever may not be fully engaged. Adjust the shift linkage and remote control. * The fluid could be contaminated. Determine and correct the contamination source, then change the fluid.

How to fix PCM 2007 5.0L MPI Engine overheating?
    • D
      danieltrevinoNov 18, 2025
If your PCM Engine is overheating, especially if it has a Fresh-Water Cooling (FWC) system, consider these possible causes and solutions: * Loose or worn drive belts. Adjust or replace the belts as needed. * Collapsed, kinked, or leaking hoses. Replace the hoses. * A plugged transmission/engine oil cooler. Remove the water hoses and flush in the opposite direction of normal flow. * A faulty thermostat. Replace the thermostat. * A partially or fully closed sea-water intake valve. Open the valve completely. * A restricted sea-water pickup. Remove the restriction. * A worn or damaged sea-water pump impeller. Replace the impeller. * Low coolant level in the fresh-water section. Refill the system. * Heat exchanger passages plugged. Clean and flush the exchanger. * Improper ...
