4.2. Identify the telephone cable with crocodile clips
1. Turn the tone generator to the OFF position
2. Connect the red test lead to a lead and the
black wire with the other wire
3. The LED color indicates the connection to the RED test lead:
GREEN = ring side
RED = tip page.
4.3. Identify the telephone cable with RJ plug
1. Turn the tone generator to the OFF position
2. Connect the cable connector of the RJ-11 connector
3. The LED color indicates the status of the telephone jack
GREEN = socket properly wired
RED = socket wired with reverse polarity.
4.4. Identify the telephone cable line condition
1. Turn the tone generator to the OFF position
2. Connect the red test lead to the RING side and the black test
lead to the TIP side
3. The LED indicates the line status:
GREEN = Clear
OFF = Busy
Flickering YELLOW = RING
4. Turn the tone generator power switch to CONT to end the call.
