The Pearl Drum Pedal, available in P-2052C/P-2052B complete sets and P-2051C/P-2051B single pedal configurations, is designed to offer drummers a high degree of customization and performance. The P-2052C/P-2052B models are double pedals, while the P-2051C/P-2051B are single pedals that can be converted into a double pedal with an optional conversion kit.
The pedal's primary function is to provide a responsive and customizable mechanism for striking a bass drum. It achieves this through a combination of adjustable components that allow drummers to fine-tune the feel, power, and sound of their pedal.
Beater System: The pedal features a Control Core Quad Beater with four distinct striking surfaces, each designed to produce a different sound:
The beater height can be adjusted using an Allen screw on the Beater Setting Stopper. The Beater Setting Stopper also preserves the height setting when the beater is removed for transport.
Interchangeable Cam System: A key feature is the exclusive Cam System, which includes four color-coded cams (Black, White, Blue, Red) as standard, with optional Purple and Yellow cams available. These cams allow drummers to quickly change the power and feel of the pedal:
Cams are easily changed by pushing the Release Button on the Wheel housing to remove and snapping a new cam into place.
Drive System: The P-2052C model utilizes a Chain Drive, while the P-2052B uses a Belt Drive. Both Belt Assembly (BCA-250) and Chain Assembly (CCA-5) are interchangeable on all Eliminator pedals, allowing for easy conversion between drive types.
PowerShifter Function: This feature allows drummers to change the feel and action of the pedal by shifting the footboard position. By loosening the Key Bolt in the heel of the footboard, the footboard can be moved to three positions (A: Strong, B: Normal, C: Light) to adjust the pedal's response.
Traction Grip and Traction Plate: The Traction Plate, which can be removed or inserted, features Traction Grip dots that allow drummers to customize the amount of grip on the footboard. The plate is also reversible, offering different grip levels at the front or rear.
Beater Angle Adjustment: The beater angle can be adjusted by loosening the Key Bolt on the Uni-Lock Beater Angle Cam. A gauge is provided on the cam for precise incremental adjustments and indexing settings.
Footboard Angle Adjustment: The footboard angle can be adjusted by removing the beater, loosening the Key Bolt on the Drive Connector, and sliding the Drive Connector to one of three positions (Chain or Belt).
Spring Tension Adjustment: The P-2052C/P-2052B pedals feature a patented Click Lock spring tension retention system. To adjust tension, the Click Lock lever is lifted, and the Upper Nut is loosened. Turning the Lower Nut clockwise increases tension, while counter-clockwise decreases it. Once the desired tension is set, the Upper Nut is tightened, and the Click Lock lever is lowered to engage the grooves around the Lower Nut, securing the setting.
Removable Toe-Stop: The Toe-Stop can be removed by unscrewing its Key Bolt, allowing for individual playing styles.
Anchor Screw: To prevent the bass drum from creeping forward during play, Anchor Screws can be turned clockwise to extend spikes into the floor. This feature is recommended for carpeted surfaces only, as spikes can damage hard flooring.
Hoop Clamp System: The Hoop Clamp system allows for secure attachment to the bass drum hoop. It is fully adjustable to accommodate various hoop thicknesses. To adjust, loosen the Allen Screw on the side of the Adjustment Knob, rotate the knob until proper fit is achieved, then re-tighten the Allen Screw. A Wing Bolt secures the pedal to the hoop. If the heel of the pedal lifts during playing, the Adjustment Knob can be loosened to change the angle of the Hoop Clamp until the pedal remains flat.
Drive Shaft Assembly (for Double Pedals): The Drive Shaft Assembly connects the main pedal to the left pedal. Key Bolts secure the shaft to the short extensions on both pedals. The length of the Drive Shaft Assembly can be adjusted by loosening the Key Bolts on the Center Connecting Tube, ensuring both Drive Shafts are of equal length.
Regular Lubrication: Periodically apply lubricant to all moving parts, including the Chain, Cam Roller, and Footboard Hinge, to ensure optimal speed and extended life of the pedal.
NiNjA Oil (OL-300): For models featuring precision NiNjA bearings (P-2052C/P-2052B), it is recommended to apply genuine NiNjA Oil at regular intervals to maintain maximum speed and performance.
Tightness Checks: Periodically check all Allen Screws for tightness and tighten them with the provided hexagonal wrench as needed.
Drive Shaft Assembly Alignment: If the Drive Shafts are extended too far and separate from the Center Connecting Tube, they should be reassembled with the dots aligned as shown in the manual's diagram.
