SP®218
Passive Sub

Specications
ENGLISH
Description
e SP® 218 is a subwoofer designed to enhance the low-end in the SP Series or other full-range speaker systems. Other
uses include bass guitar, keyboard and drum monitoring. is loudspeaker system delivers high output, low distortion bass
from two 18” Pro Rider woofers mounted in a vented enclosure. is unit is designed for portability. e enclosure is con-
structed of hardwood plywood augmented with internal braces with a textured black painted nish. A full-length, wrap-
around perforated steel grille protects the front of the enclosure. Tilt-back casters are mounted at the rear bottom corner
to assist in portability. A pole mount plate is located on the right hand side of the enclosure, with an insert for a threaded
pole, using M20 threads. e threaded pole is included. Rubber feet and corner casters on the bottom and a corner handle
on top make moving the enclosure an easy, one-person operation.
Inputs are at the rear of the enclosure and consist of two 1/4” jacks, one four-pin twist-lock non-switching jack and one
Neutrik® Speakon® switching jack. e enclosure input is congurable, with the default being 4 ohms with both drivers in
parallel when using the parallel inputs. A dual-woofer 2 x 8 ohm conguration is available through the switching Neutrik®
jack, which disconnects the 4 ohm inputs and provides separate inputs to the woofers when used. is ingenious input de-
sign provides maximum exibility for single-or dual-amplier operation, without having to manually rewire the enclosure.
is low frequency enclosure is comprised of two 18” Pro Rider® subwoofer drivers in a vented alignment. e Pro Rider
driver delivers superior performance due to its advanced cooling system, large 4” voice coil with edge-wound aluminum
wire and high performance cone. is design provides strong bass extension and high power handling to complement a
full-range sound system.
As the SP 218 does not include a passive subwoofer crossover, input should be electronically ltered for subwoofer appli-
cations. In addition, for high power operation, a high-pass lter set at 36 Hz and using a 24 dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley lter
should be used to improve performance and reliability.
Features
• Two 18” Pro Rider® woofers
• 2,400W program, and 4,800W peak power handling
• Low frequency response down to 41 Hz.
• Inputs include one four-pin twist lock connector and two 1/4” phone jacks all in parallel, and one Neutrik®
Speakon® switching jack for independent access to the woofers
