Overview

This document is a user manual for a Pelgrim OKG260 refrigerator, providing instructions for its installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The Pelgrim OKG260 is a refrigerator designed for household use, specifically for storing fresh food at temperatures above 0°C. It features a cooling system with a compressor, and some models may include a fan. The refrigerator automatically defrosts its interior, with accumulated ice melting and draining into a condensate tray at the bottom of the appliance base.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Appliance Class and Operating Temperature: The refrigerator is designed to operate correctly within specific ambient temperature ranges depending on its class:
    • SN (subnormal): +10°C to +32°C
    • N (normal): +16°C to +32°C
    • ST (subtropical): +16°C to +38°C
    • T (tropical): +16°C to +43°C The appliance class is indicated on the rating plate.
  • Refrigerant: The room where the appliance is installed should have at least 1 m³ of space per 8 grams of refrigerant. The amount of refrigerant is stated on the rating plate.
  • Height Adjustment: The appliance has four height-adjustable feet, allowing its height to be set between 82 cm and 90 cm.
  • Electrical Connection: It requires connection to the power mains with a grounded wall outlet (safety socket). Nominal voltage and frequency are indicated on the rating plate. The appliance can withstand short-term deviations from nominal voltage of up to +/- 6%.
  • Interior Lighting: The refrigerator includes interior lighting.
  • Bulb Type: The appliance uses special purpose E14 bulb lamps, selected for household appliances only, and not suitable for household room illumination. The bulb is considered a consumable and is excluded from warranty.

Usage Features

  • Temperature Control: The appliance features a control unit with a thermostat knob for temperature setting and on/off control.
    • Turning On: Rotate the thermostat knob clockwise towards position 7 to turn on.
    • Turning Off: Rotate the knob back to position STOP (0) to turn off.
    • Temperature Setting: Higher settings (towards 7) correspond to lower (cooler) temperatures. A medium setting is recommended for normal ambient temperatures. If the ambient temperature is below 16°C, higher settings may be needed to achieve a lower internal temperature. When the knob is at STOP (0), the cooling system is off, but the appliance is still powered (interior light will illuminate when the door is opened).
  • Adjustable Shelving: The refrigerator interior includes glass shelves whose height can be adjusted using guides. They are designed to prevent being completely pulled out.
  • Fruit and Vegetable Bin: Located at the bottom of the refrigerator compartment, below the serving tray, this bin provides adequate humidity to slow down the drying out of stored fruit and vegetables.
  • Serving Tray: Positioned above the fruit and vegetable bin, it can function as both a refrigerator compartment shelf and a serving tray.
  • Door Bins: The interior side of the refrigerator door has bins for storing various items like cheese, butter, eggs, yogurt, and smaller packages. A bottle shelf is located at the lower end of the door.
  • Adjustable Door Bin: The height of the door bins can be adjusted by squeezing tabs on both sides and moving the bin up or down. To remove a bin, lift it as far as it will go and pull it out.
  • Storage Bin (MultiBox) (model dependent): This bin is designed for storing food with strong or pungent smells (e.g., ripened cheese, sausages, onions, butter). It comes with a silicone lid that provides an airtight seal to prevent drying out and odor spread. The silicon lid can also be used as an egg or ice tray. If used as an egg tray, it is placed directly on the bottom of the door bin, allowing the lower part of the MultiBox to store smaller packages.
  • Food Storage Guidelines:
    • Store food in closed containers or appropriate packaging to prevent odor transfer.
    • Do not store flammable, volatile, or explosive substances.
    • Bottles with high alcohol content should be tightly sealed and stored upright.
    • Some organic solutions, essential oils (e.g., in lemon/orange peel), or butter acid can damage plastic surfaces with prolonged contact.
    • Unpleasant odors indicate a lack of cleanliness or perished contents.
    • Remove perishables if leaving home for an extended period.
  • Recommended Storage Times:
    • Eggs, marinades, smoked meat: up to 10 days
    • Cheese: up to 10 days
    • Root vegetables: up to 8 days
    • Butter: up to 7 days
    • Desserts, fruit, ready-to-eat food, chunks of raw meat: up to 2 days
    • Fish, raw minced meat, seafood: up to 1 day

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning:
    • Before Cleaning: Always unplug the appliance from the power mains.
    • Exterior: Clean with water or a mild solution of suds. Lacquer-coated and aluminum surfaces can be cleaned with lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Cleaners with low alcohol content (e.g., window cleaners) are allowed, but avoid alcohol-containing cleaners for plastic materials.
    • Interior: Clean with lukewarm water, optionally with some vinegar.
    • Drainage System: A gutter and opening under the cooling panel collect water from thawed ice. These must be kept clear and cleaned regularly (e.g., with a plastic straw) to prevent clogging.
    • Frost/Ice Build-up: If a 3-5 mm thick layer of frost or ice builds up, it increases power consumption. It should be removed regularly. Avoid using sharp objects, solvents, or sprays.
    • Condenser Unit: The condenser unit on the rear wall should be kept clean to ensure proper air circulation and prevent insufficient cooling. To clean it, remove the cabinet kickplate, release the latch on the switchboard, pull out the plate, remove the condensate tray, and vacuum the dust from the condenser unit. Reassemble in reverse order.
  • Defrosting:
    • Automatic Defrosting: The refrigerator automatically defrosts. Melted ice drains into a tray at the bottom.
    • Manual Defrosting: If an excessive layer of ice (3-5 mm) forms on the rear wall, switch off the appliance and defrost it manually. It's advisable to empty the condensate tray during manual defrosting.
  • Power Cord Replacement: If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a service technician or adequately trained person.
  • Prolonged Absence: If the appliance will be out of use for a long time, switch it off, unplug it, empty it, defrost it, clean it, and leave the door ajar.
  • Disposal: Obsolete appliances should be taken to an authorized home appliance collection center to protect the environment. Packaging materials are environmentally friendly and recyclable.
  • Rating Plate: The rating plate, located inside the appliance, contains basic information. If the language on the plate is not suitable, it should be replaced with the one supplied.
  • Ventilation: Keep ventilation openings in the appliance enclosure or built-in structure clear of obstruction.
  • Refrigerant Circuit: Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.
  • Internal Electrical Appliances: Do not use electrical appliances inside food storage compartments unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Stability: Ensure the appliance is installed as instructed to avoid hazards from poor instability.
