Overview

This document is a user manual for Pelonis dehumidifiers, covering models PAD20C1AWT, PAD30C1AWT, PAD40C1AWT, PAD50P1ABL, and PAD60P1AGR. It provides comprehensive instructions for safe operation, installation, and maintenance of the device.

The primary function of this device is to dehumidify the air, removing excess moisture to create a more comfortable and healthier indoor environment. It is designed for indoor residential applications only and should not be used outdoors or for commercial/industrial purposes. The dehumidifier operates by drawing in humid air, passing it over evaporator coils where moisture condenses, and then expelling drier air back into the room.

Usage Features

The dehumidifier offers several operational modes and settings to customize its performance:

  • Power Button: Turns the dehumidifier on and off.
  • Humidity Set Control Buttons (Up/Down): Allows users to set the desired humidity level within a range of 35% RH to 85% RH, in 5% increments. Pressing the "down" button sets a lower value for drier air, while the "up" button sets a higher value for damper air.
  • TIMER Button: Activates the Timer ON and Timer OFF functions.
  • TIMER Set Control Buttons (Up/Down): Used to set the Timer ON or Timer OFF duration from 0 to 24 hours. The control counts down the remaining time until start, and the selected time registers in 5 seconds before reverting to the previous humidity setting display. Turning the unit on or off or adjusting the timer to 0.0 will cancel the Timer function.
  • COMFORT Button: Activates the COMFORT dehumidifying operation. In this mode, the dehumidifier automatically sets to a preset humidity and fan level. To exit comfort mode, users need to manually adjust the humidity.
  • Cont. (Continuous) Button: Activates continuous dehumidifying operation. When this mode is on, the set humidity is automatic and cannot be changed manually.
  • TURBO Button: Controls the fan speed, allowing selection between Turbo and normal fan speeds. Turbo speed is recommended for maximum moisture removal, and it's advised to turn it off once the room humidity reaches the preferred level.
  • ION Button (on some models): Activates the ionizer, which generates ions to deactivate airborne chemical vapors and dust particles. Pressing it again stops the function.
  • LED Display: Shows the set percentage humidity level (35% to 85%) or auto start/stop time (0-24) during setting. It then displays the actual room percentage humidity level (30% to 90% RH) with a +/- 5% accuracy.
  • Auto Shut Off: The dehumidifier automatically shuts off when the water bucket is full, removed, or not properly positioned. It also shuts off when the set point humidity level is reached, though the fan motor continues to operate.
  • Auto Defrost: If frost builds up on the evaporator coils, the compressor cycles off, and the Auto Defrost function runs automatically to melt the frost.
  • 3-Minute Compressor Operation Delay Protection: After stopping, the unit cannot be restarted for 3 minutes to protect the compressor. It will restart automatically after this delay.
  • Auto-Restart: In case of a power cut, the unit will restart with its previous function settings once power resumes.
  • Bucket Full Light: Illuminates when the water bucket is ready to be emptied. If the unit is on and the bucket is full, the compressor and fan turn off, and the digital display shows "P2".

Water Removal Options

The dehumidifier offers three ways to remove collected water:

  1. Using the Bucket:

    • When the bucket is full, the "Full" indicator light will illuminate, and the unit will stop operation (compressor and fan turn off if the unit is on, displaying "P2").
    • To empty, slowly pull out the bucket using both handles, ensuring it's held evenly to prevent spills. The bottom of the bucket is uneven, so it should not be placed on the floor.
    • After emptying, reposition the bucket gently and completely into the unit. The unit will resume operation once the bucket is back in place.
    • Caution: Do not touch internal parts when removing the bucket, as this may damage the product. If the pump hose (on pump models) falls off, it must be reinstalled properly before replacing the bucket. If the bucket is removed while the unit is on or off, the unit will beep 8 times and display "Eb".
  2. Continuous Draining:

    • Water can be automatically emptied into a floor drain using a standard garden hose (5/8 inch or greater outside diameter, not included).
    • Remove the plastic cover from the back drain outlet, then insert the drain hose and lead it to a suitable drain facility.
    • Ensure the hose is secure, free of kinks, and level or sloping downwards to allow water flow.
    • Select the desired humidity setting and fan speed on the unit to start continuous draining.
    • Note: When not using this feature, remove the drain hose and dry any water in the outlet with a dry cloth.
  3. Pump Draining (Pump Models Only):

    • Water can be automatically emptied into a floor drain or drainage facility using the supplied pump drain hose (1/4 inch outside diameter).
    • Remove the continuous drain hose (if installed) and install the plastic cover to the continuous drain hose outlet by clockwise rotation.
    • Insert the pump drain hose into the pump drain hose outlet for at least 15 mm, then lead the hose to the floor drain or drainage facility.
    • Press the "PUMP" button on the unit to activate the pump operation. The pump starts working when the bucket is full.
    • The internal pump can pump water vertically up to 16 feet.
    • Note: The pump may generate a loud noise for the first 3-5 minutes of operation.
    • Pump Failure: If the pump operation light blinks, turn off the unit, disconnect power, and check the pump filter (clean it if dirty), drain hose (for blockages or debris), and ensure the bucket and hose connections are properly assembled. Empty the water bucket. If the error persists, contact customer service.
    • Important: Do not use pump operation when outdoor temperatures are 0°C (32°F) or less, as ice may form and block the hose. Empty the bucket at least once a week when using this feature. Remove the pump drain hose when not in use.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for efficient operation and longevity of the dehumidifier:

  • Cleaning the Grill and Case:
    • Use water and a mild detergent. Avoid bleach or abrasives.
    • Do not splash water directly onto the unit, as this can cause electrical shock, insulation deterioration, or rust.
    • Use a vacuum cleaner or brush to clean the air intake and outlet if they become dirty.
  • Cleaning the Bucket:
    • Clean the bucket thoroughly every few weeks to prevent mold, mildew, and bacteria growth.
    • Partially fill the bucket with clean water and mild detergent, swish it around, then empty and rinse.
    • Note: Do not use a dishwasher to clean the bucket.
  • Cleaning the Air Filter:
    • Pull the filter outwards to remove it.
    • Wash the filter with clean water and dry it.
    • Re-install the filter.
    • Caution: Do not operate the dehumidifier without a filter, as this can lead to performance loss and unit damage. The "FILTER" button's LED will flash after 250 hours of operation as a reminder to clean the filter. Press the "Filter" button after cleaning to reset the 250-hour counter.
  • Long-Term Storage:
    • Before storing, let the unit rest for one full day to allow the system to dry naturally.
    • Clean the unit, water bucket, and air filter.
    • Wrap the power cord with the provided power cord buckle.
    • Store the unit upright in a dry, well-ventilated area.

Safety Precautions

The manual emphasizes several safety precautions:

  • Always ensure proper grounding to prevent electric shock and fire.
  • Do not modify the power cord or share outlets with other appliances.
  • Unplug the unit if strange sounds, smells, or smoke occur.
  • Ventilate the room if there is a gas leak from other appliances.
  • Do not operate or stop the unit by inserting or pulling out the power plug.
  • Prevent water from entering electrical parts.
  • Do not use loose or damaged power outlets.
  • Keep the power cord away from heating appliances or heat sources.
  • Do not disassemble or modify the unit.
  • Do not damage or use an unspecified power cord.
  • If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorized service center.
  • Do not use the unit near flammable gas or combustibles.
  • Turn off and unplug the unit before cleaning.
  • Do not remove the water bucket during operation, as this can activate bucket full protection and risk electric shock.
  • Do not use the unit in small, unventilated spaces.
  • Avoid using the unit where water may splash onto it.
  • Place the unit on a level, sturdy floor.
  • Never insert fingers or foreign objects into grills or openings, especially with children present.
  • Do not climb or sit on the unit.
  • Always insert filters securely.
  • If water enters the unit, turn it off, disconnect power, and contact a qualified service technician.
  • Do not place flower vases or other water containers on top of the unit.
  • If the unit is knocked over, turn it off, unplug it, inspect for damage, and contact customer service if necessary.
  • Disconnect power during thunderstorms.
  • Do not run the power cord under carpeting or furniture, and arrange it away from traffic areas.
  • Ensure the unit is placed with at least 8 inches of air space on all sides and 16 inches for the air outlet to allow proper air circulation.
  • Operate the unit in an environment between 5°C/41°F and 32°C/90°F.
  • Keep the unit away from clothes dryers, heaters, or radiators.
  • Close all doors, windows, and other outside openings in the room during operation.
