Chapter 10: FAQs & Support | 81
What is FAST option and is it included with the UHS-12
and UHS-40 cameras?
FAST option is an export controlled option. In the UHS-12 cameras (v2512, v2012, v1612
and v1212) FAST option allows up to 1,000,000 fps at lower resolutions and minimum
exposures to be set as low as 265 ns, depending on the camera model. In the UHS-40
cameras (v1840 and v2640) FAST option allows the minimum exposure to be set as low
as 142 ns in the High Speed mode. FAST option does not come automatically with the
cameras and must be added.
How do I switch the modes in the v1840 and v2640?
In Phantom Camera Control (PCC) software, go to ‘Camera Settings’ near the top of the
menu. Select the mode you want from the pull-down menu and follow the dialog boxes.
No need to reboot the camera or restart PCC. If you have Cines in RAM, you will be
directed to either save them or delete them before mode switching.
If I buy a v1840 now, can I upgrade to a v2640 later? Can
I upgrade the UHS-12 cameras, for example from a v1212
to a v2512?
Of course you can. You can also upgrade for more memory—up to 288GB—and even
add CineMag compatibility.
Can I convert a UHS-12 to a UHS-40?
Unfortunately, no. While the cameras look identical, the internal components are
very different.
