Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive guide for setting up, operating, and maintaining your Pheanoo P15 soundbar system. It covers everything from initial component checks and TV connection methods to advanced audio settings, firmware updates, and troubleshooting.

Function Description:

The Pheanoo P15 is a soundbar system designed to enhance your TV's audio experience. It offers multiple connectivity options to ensure compatibility with a wide range of televisions and devices. The system includes a soundbar and a subwoofer, working together to deliver rich, immersive sound. A remote control is provided for convenient operation, allowing you to adjust various audio settings and input modes from a distance. The soundbar features a "VOLUME BEEF UP" function, a unique feature designed to address instances where the TV's own audio output power limits the soundbar's maximum volume. This function can be enabled to boost the soundbar's volume level, particularly useful for TVs with lower audio output. The system also supports Bluetooth connectivity, enabling wireless audio streaming from compatible devices. Firmware update capabilities ensure that your soundbar can always benefit from the latest improvements and features released by Pheanoo.

Usage Features:

1. Checking Components: Before starting, verify that all components are present: the soundbar, subwoofer, HDMI (ARC) cable, 3.5mm to RCA audio cable, AC power cord, mounting template, remote control, screws bag, user manual, and quick start guide.

Connecting to a TV:

  • HDMI ARC (Preferred): If your TV has an HDMI ARC port, connect the supplied HDMI cable between the TV's HDMI ARC port and the soundbar's HDMI ARC port. This method allows for integrated control, including power on/off and volume adjustment, using your TV's remote.
  • AUX: If your TV lacks an HDMI ARC port, use the supplied 3.5mm to RCA audio cable to connect your TV's AUDIO OUT jack to the soundbar's AUX IN jack. Ensure the cable ends match the port colors.
  • OPTICAL: Alternatively, if your TV doesn't have an HDMI ARC port, connect an optical cable (not supplied) from your TV's OPTICAL OUT jack to the soundbar's OPTICAL IN jack. If using this method, ensure your TV's internal speakers are off or at minimum volume to avoid audio conflict.

3. Powering Your System: Once connected to the TV, plug the AC power cord into the soundbar and a power outlet. The remote control requires two AAA batteries (not included).

4. Choosing Input Mode: Use the TV ARC, AUX, OPT, or BT mode buttons on the remote control to select the input mode that matches your TV connection. LED indicators on the soundbar will confirm the selected mode.

5. Changing Audio Settings on Your TV: This is a crucial step for optimal performance. You must change your TV's audio output format to PCM and enable Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) if using HDMI ARC. The manual provides specific instructions for various TV brands (Samsung, Vizio, Sony, LG, TCL Roku, Hisense Roku, ONN Roku, TCL Android, Hisense Android, Sharp, Insignia Fire TV, Toshiba Fire TV, Panasonic, Roku TV Stick, Fire TV stick), detailing how to access these settings. Common CEC names include Anynet+ (Samsung), CEC (Vizio), Bravia Sync (Sony), SimpLink (LG), Aquos Link (Sharp), and EasyLink (Philips).

6. "VOLUME BEEF UP" Function: To enable this function, long-press the MUTE button on the soundbar remote for 3-5 seconds. Then, press the VOL+ button twice. To disable, repeat the long-press of MUTE, then press VOL- twice. This feature should be used cautiously, as high TV audio output combined with "VOLUME BEEF UP" might lead to distortion or other audio quality issues.

Controlling Your Soundbar:

  • Top Panel Controls: The soundbar has physical buttons for power on/off (long press), input source switching (short press), play/pause, Bluetooth pairing, and volume up/down.
  • Remote Control: The remote offers comprehensive control, including power, mute, volume adjustment, reset (play/pause, volume level reset, Movie EQ effect), bass level adjustment, and direct input mode selection (TV ARC, BT, AUX, OPT). It also has dedicated buttons for sound effects (MUSIC, MOVIE, DIALOGUE) and an indicator on/off button.

8. Positioning Your Soundbar: The soundbar can be placed on a surface or mounted on a wall. For wall mounting, use the provided template to mark screw holes, drill, insert wall anchors, and then hang the soundbar.

10. Bluetooth Connection (Optional): Press the Bluetooth button on the soundbar or remote until the Bluetooth LED blinks blue. Enable Bluetooth on your device, then select "PHEANOO P15" from the list. The LED will turn solid blue upon successful pairing.

Maintenance Features:

9. Firmware Update: Pheanoo occasionally releases firmware updates to improve soundbar performance. To update:

  1. Download the latest firmware from the Pheanoo website onto a USB 2.0 drive (max 32GB).
  2. Format the USB drive to FAT16 or FAT32.
  3. Extract the downloaded ".zip" file and place the "ota.bin" file directly onto the USB drive, ensuring no other files or folders are present.
  4. Turn on the soundbar and insert the USB drive into the USB (SERVICE) slot on the back of the soundbar.
  5. The soundbar's light will flash white during installation.
  6. Once complete, the light will turn solid red, indicating it's safe to remove the USB drive. It is crucial not to remove the USB drive or turn off the soundbar during the update process. If issues arise after a firmware upgrade, contact Pheanoo support.

11. Troubleshooting: The manual provides solutions for common issues such as no sound from soundbar speakers (check power, HDMI ARC connection, CEC settings, input mode, PCM format), distorted sound or echo (mute TV speakers if playing audio from TV), and inability to connect via Bluetooth (enable Bluetooth on device, disconnect from other Bluetooth devices).
