12.0 Demand Response
Airwavehastheabilitytorespondandtransmitsignalstoeventswhichrequirereducedenergyusageandloadshedding.Thesignaltransmittedbytheutility,knownasdemandresponse,canbebroadcasted
wirelesslytoalldemandresponseenabledxtures,therebyreducinglightingloadsduringpeakperiodsandenvironmentalconditionsoremergencies.Airwave’swirelessdemandresponsecapabilityallows
building owners and managers to realize significant savings in energy, operational costs and manage facilities more efficiently.
12.1 Four Levels of Response
TheTransceiverwillrespondto4levelsofDemandResponsecontrolfromawirelessEnOceanDemandResponsesignal;NormalfornormaloperationandModerate,High,andSpecialfor
increasing levels of load shedding. Dimming ballast fixtures will dim based on the Demand Response event level and the saved settings in the Transceiver.
12.2 Programmable for Additional Flexibility
AirwaveTransceiverscomewithfactorypre-setsforeachDemandResponsesignallevel.ThesepresetscanhoweverbemodiedtoadapttotheindividualrequirementsofaspaceorasDemand
Response requirements change over time. Additionally, each lighting zone can be individually set to respond or ignore a Demand Respond signal. This provides the option of using the Airwave
wirelesscontrolsysteminbuildingswheresomeluminairesshouldnotdimorturnOFFaspartoftheDemandResponsestrategy.
12.3 Demand Response Behavior
IfthextureisalreadyatadimminglevelbelowtherequestedDemandResponsedimminglevel,thexturedimminglevelwillnotchange.Non-dimmingballastxturescanbesettoturnoff
basedontheDemandResponseeventlevelorsetto‘Nochange’.Oncea‘Normal’DemandResponsesignalisreceived,theTransceiverwillrevertthedimminglevelorON/OFFstatustothe
previoussettingbeforetheDemandResponseeventoccurred.Dimmingchangesaregradualtominimizeusersnoticingthechange.SimilartothePhotosensorcontrol,theDemandResponse
energy savings cannot be overridden manually by the user.
12.4 Demand Response Transmitter
TousetheDemandResponsefunctionalityaDRTransmitterisrequired.ADemandResponseTransmitterislinkedtoTransceiversbysimplysendingalinksignalfromtheDemandResponse
Transmitter.TheTransceiversdonotneedtobeinLinkmode.TransceiversthatareoutofrangefromthewirelessDemandResponseTransmittercanbebrought‘in-range’bysettingTransceivers
near the outer edge of the range into Repeat mode.
ConsultthefactoryfordetailsforadditionalonhowAirwavewirelesstechnologycanbeusedtoaccommodateyourDemandResponserequirements.
13.0 Safety, Security, and Regulatory Compliance
AirwaveSwitchesproduce100timeslessintensivehigh-frequencyeldsthantraditionallightSwitches,makingAirwaveaverysafetechnology.SwitchesandPhotosensorsallowforuseinawidearray
ofapplicationsincludingtransmission-sensitiveareas.EachAirwavePhotosensor,Switch,andTransceiverhasitsownunique32-bitidenticationaddressensuringthatsettingscannotbemanipulatedor
unintentionallychangedbyotherwirelessdevices.AirwaveisFCCandULapprovedforuseintheUnitedStates,andICandCSAapprovedforuseinCanada.TheTransceiverisalsoUL2043plenum
rated for installations in plenums or other spaces used for air handling.
FCCComplianceStatement:
TheencloseddevicecomplieswithPart15oftheFCCRules.Operationissubjecttothefollowingtwoconditions:(i.)thisdevicemaynotcauseharmfulinterferenceand(ii.)thisdevicemustaccept
any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
14.0 Warranty
AllPhilipsLedaliteproductsarecarefullytestedandinspectedbeforeshipmentandarewarrantedtobefreeofdefectsinmaterialorworkmanshipforaperiodoftwoyearsfromdateofshipmentfromour
factory. Any such defective products will be repaired or replaced at the option of Philips Ledalite, provided a written claim is made within this warranty period. Philips Ledalite will accept no charges for any
labour, repair cost or transportation charges without Philips Ledalite’s expressed prior written authorization. The responsibility of Philips Ledalite for any defective material is limited solely to the replacement
orrepairofthematerialanddoesnotincludeanyincidentalorconsequentialdamageswhichmaybeincurred.Nowarrantyexists,expressedorimplied,otherthanthatincludedabove.Noperson,agentor
distributor is authorized to give any other warranty on behalf of Philips Ledalite.
