Usage Features

The monitors offer a user-friendly interface with clearly marked controls for adjustment and input selection.

Switching On/Off:

  • The monitor is switched on by pressing the power button, indicated by an illuminated LED. Pressing the button again switches the monitor off.

Input Selection:

  • Input I/II switch: This switch allows users to select between signals from the phono connectors (Input I) or the EURO/DIN connectors (Input II).
  • RGB STATUS switch: This switch should be pushed when the RGB computer does not supply the RGB STATUS voltage. When activated, the Euroconnector and DIN connector will operate in RGB mode.
  • VCR button: When using the monitor as a display for a Video Recorder or VLP, this button adjusts the picture. If a TV Tuner is connected, this button should be released.

Picture and Sound Controls:

  • Horizontal positioning: Adjust the image horizontally using a dedicated knob.
  • Brightness: Adjust the image brightness with a knob.
  • Contrast: Adjust the image contrast with a knob.
  • Colour saturation: Adjust the saturation of colour with a knob (not applicable with connected RGB sources).
  • Volume: Adjust the audio volume with a knob.
  • V.Height: Adjust the image height with a knob.
  • V.Centering: Position the image vertically with a knob.
  • H.Width: Adjust the image width with a knob.

Green Switch:

  • A dedicated button allows switching to green letters, which is useful for text processing applications.

Connectivity:

  • CVBS IN (Phono Type): Composite video input for computers or other CVBS sources.
  • AUDIO IN (Phono Type): Audio input for signal sources with sound output.
  • TTL RGB input (8 pin DIN type 270°): For computers with TTL RGB output and separated synchronisation.
  • CVBS + RGB linear + Audio input (Euroconnector type): For connection to Video Recorders, Computers, LaserVision Players, TV Tuners, etc., equipped with a Euroconnector.
    • Remark: If both RGB inputs are connected simultaneously, the TTL RGB input takes priority over the linear RGB input. The linear RGB input will be looped in after switching off or removing the connection cable from the TTL source.
  • Headphones: A 3.5 mm jack-type socket on the left side of the monitor for connecting headphones.

Optional Accessories:

  • TV Tuner AV7300: A Philips TV Tuner can be connected to the CVBS IN and AUDIO IN sockets, allowing the monitor to function as a TV set.
  • Pedestal AV7202: This optional pedestal allows the monitor to be tilted and/or turned for convenient positioning.

Maintenance Features

General Maintenance:

  • Troubleshooting: If the picture is not as desired, users should first check if all controls are in the correct position.
  • Servicing: The rear panel should only be removed by a service technician.
  • Cleaning: The monitor can be cleaned with a damp sponge. Avoid using alcohol, spirits, or ammonia.

UK Specific Information (Not applicable outside the UK):

  • Service for 12 months (Free): Philips provides a 12-month free service period for manufacturing defects or material issues, provided the set was purchased within 12 months of the claim date, and the defect is not due to misuse, accidental damage, neglect, or unauthorized repair. The picture tube is separately guaranteed for 12 months by Philips Service.
  • Service after 12 months: Chargeable service is available after the initial 12-month period.
  • Mains Connection (UK): The monitor is designed for 220-240 volts, 50 Hz AC mains supply. It must be earthed. If fitting a 3-pin plug, the wires should be connected according to the following colour code: BLUE (Neutral) to 'N' or black, BROWN (Live) to 'L' or red, and GREEN/YELLOW (Earth) to 'E' or the earth symbol. The fuse value should be 3 Amp, or if an unfused plug is used, the distribution board fuse should not exceed 5 Amp. Ensure the cord grip clamps over the sheath of the lead, not just the wires.
