Overview

The Pierce Cattle Siren PS093 is a heavy-duty device designed to call cattle with a loud siren. It is manufactured by Pierce Arrow Inc., a company that specializes in pulling equipment. The siren is intended for use in agricultural settings to assist with cattle management.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Pierce Cattle Siren PS093 is to emit a loud sound to attract or gather cattle. It is designed to be used with a toggle switch for operation. The siren is built for durability and is suitable for outdoor use, though specific installation guidelines must be followed to ensure its longevity and maintain warranty coverage.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Application: Calling in cattle with a loud siren.
  • Product Dimensions: 4.5" x 4.5" x 6.33". This compact size allows for flexible mounting options.
  • Material Type: Steel, indicating a robust and durable construction.
  • Duty Cycle: 10 minutes. This specification suggests that the siren is designed for intermittent use rather than continuous operation to prevent overheating and extend its lifespan. Extended use over long periods of time can shorten the life of the siren.
  • Decibel Level: 135 dB. This is an extremely loud sound level, comparable to a jet engine at 100 feet (140 dB) or significantly louder than a power mower (107 dB). The actual travel distance of the sound can be influenced by variables such as wind, weather, and terrain.
  • Warranty: 2 years. This warranty covers defects in material and workmanship, including replacement or repair of defective mechanical and electrical parts.
  • Draw: 96W / 8-25 amp. This indicates the power consumption of the siren, which is important for ensuring compatibility with the vehicle's electrical system.

Usage Features:

  • Ease of Installation: A wiring kit (PCHKD) is available for simplified installation, though customers with existing appropriate wiring (16 gauge two-way wire, terminals, switches, and breakers) may not need it. The kit includes essential components such as ring terminals, push-on terminals, a 2-pin connector, an on-off switch, #10 ring terminals, a 30 amp breaker, and 15 feet of 16 gauge red and black wire with a connector.
  • Mounting Flexibility: The siren can be bolted to a flat surface, such as a headache rack or under the hood, using 1/4" bolts or #12 self-tapping screws.
  • Toggle Switch Operation: The siren is designed to be used with a toggle switch, which should be mounted in the truck's cab for convenient control.
  • Environmental Considerations: The PS093 features an environmentally sealed connector and improved structural integrity of the bracket compared to previous models (like the PS092BE).
  • Installation Steps:
    1. Bolt the siren to a flat surface.
    2. Plug the male connector end to the female connector end.
    3. Mount the On-Off switch in the truck's cab.
    4. Mount the breaker near the battery using #10 screws.
    5. Run the black wire to the negative battery terminal.
    6. Run the red wire to the toggle switch (using push-on connectors).
    7. Run the red wire from the switch to the breaker (small terminals).
    8. Run the red wire from the breaker to the positive battery terminal (large terminal).
    • For existing wiring, the connector can be cut off, and the siren can be spliced into the existing wiring.

Maintenance Features:

  • Product Registration: Users are encouraged to register their product at www.piercearrowinc.com/warranty/product-registration. Registration offers several benefits:
    • Receiving product updates via email.
    • Receiving maintenance reminders via email.
    • Accessing quick technical service help if problems arise.
  • Warranty Coverage: The 2-year limited warranty covers defects in material and workmanship. To obtain warranty service, Pierce Arrow Inc. must be notified of any defect, and the merchandise must be delivered to their facility in Henrietta, Texas, at the purchaser's expense. Pierce Arrow Inc. reserves the right to repair or replace defective parts or products at its discretion.
  • Exclusions from Warranty: The warranty does not cover:
    • Damage from use other than the specific intended purpose.
    • Ongoing maintenance parts or repair due to normal wear and tear.
    • Damage or defects due to accident, misuse, unintended use, improper or unauthorized repair, failure to provide regular maintenance, or deterioration due to weather or road conditions.
    • Purchaser's cost of labor, transportation, shipping damages, installation or removal costs, downtime, loss of profit or goodwill, or other special, incidental, indirect, or consequential damages.
  • Installation Precaution: When exposed to the elements, the siren should not be installed upside-down, as water will collect within it, voiding the warranty. Covered cake feeders are an exception if the siren is hidden from the elements.
  • Owner's Manual: Purchasers should consult their owner's manual for safety, installation, operation, and maintenance guidelines.
