Tips for use in your vehicle
• Always use the vehicle docking station.
• Use the cassette adaptor for the best sound quality.
If that isn’t possible…
• Use the FM modulator by selecting an unused channel
or the weakest signal. Try the following frequencies:
88.1, 88.3, 88.5, 88.7, 88.9, 106.7, 106.9, plus
107.1, 107.3, 107.5, 107.7, or 107.9
Make a note which frequency has no FM station or the
least amount of interference. Then set your AirWare
®
wireless
FM modulator to the same station. Go to “menu” > Set FM
frequency > scroll and select the same frequency.
Use of the FM modulator outside the dock without the
car antenna connected will hinder performance. The XM car
antenna helps provide a clear signal when you use the
FM modulator.
In the rare situation that you cannot find an open FM
frequency, consult a professional car audio installer.
Tips for receiving the best signal
• Use the built-in signal strength meter for aiming the AirWare
®
internal antenna or external antennas. Press “menu” > rotate
the dial to Antenna Aiming > press the dial and you will see
two rows of bars.
• Move your AirWare
®
or external antenna to a position that
gives you the highest number of bars on either the terrestrial
or satellite meter.
Using the 2go button
• When you use the 2go feature for recording on the go, ensure
that you have at least two bars of signal strength on the main
screen. This will help prevent accidental cancellation of your
recording if there is a fade in signal strength.
• To start your recording, press the “2go” button. Press the
“2go” button a second time to confirm recording.
• To stop your recording, press the “2go” button at any time.
Scheduling a recording session
• You must have your AirWare
®
in the home docking station
with power adaptor and an XM antenna connected.
• Be sure you have at least two bars of signal strength.
• Set up your scheduled recording time by going to the
“menu” > My XM > Schedule Session 1 (or 2).
• IMPORTANT!: Turn your AirWare
®
off or it will not record at
the scheduled time. It will turn on automatically to record.
• When you want to listen to your recordings, press the
“mode” button and listen to MY XM.
Tips for use in your home
• Use the home docking station so you have access to the
antenna, power and audio cables for best sound quality.
• Be sure to face your XM antenna South through a window so
you have at least 2 bars of signal strength for recordings.
• If you need to place the antenna at a location more than
25 feet away, XM offers an extension kit Part Number XMAC1000
(sold separately) at the online store www.xmradio.com and
click on “Online Store”.
Note: Satellite radio reception
depends on the ability of the
antenna to receive/record a
signal. The signal may not be
available in buildings or if
obstructed (e.g. by mountains,
trees, bridges, etc.).
