Function Description:
The POLAR-AIRE™ VF-18S is an 18-inch slim floor fan designed for indoor residential and office use. Its primary function is to provide cooling by circulating air. The fan features multiple speed settings and an adjustable tilt angle to direct airflow as needed.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Model: VF-18S
- Size: 18 inches
- Power Requirement: 120 volt A.C., 60 Hz wall outlet.
- Power Cord: Minimum 14 AWG, rated not less than 1875 watts if an extension cord is used.
- Plug: Three-prong grounded plug.
- Overload Protection: Features a replaceable fuse.
- Fuse Specifications: Identical fuse of 2.5 or 5.0 amperes and 125 watts (3.6 mm x 10 mm).
Usage Features:
- Intended Use: Strictly for indoor residential and office environments; not for industrial or other commercial applications.
- Placement: Should be placed on a smooth, non-combustible, level surface in an area that provides proper fan cooling. Not suitable for use in bathrooms, laundry areas, near sinks, washing machines, swimming pools, or in damp environments like flooded basements. Not to be used outdoors or in windows.
- Connection: Plug directly into a 120 volt A.C., 60 Hz grounded wall outlet. Ensure a tight fit to prevent overheating. Avoid plugging into circuits that are already servicing other electrical needs to prevent overloading.
- Operation:
- Turning On: Place the fan on a stable, level surface. Plug into a properly grounded outlet. Turn the switch from the OFF position to the desired fan speed.
- Turning Off: Turn the switch from the current speed setting to the OFF position. Unplug the fan from the outlet.
- Adjusting Tilt: Use the supplied knob wrench to loosen the adjustment screw, set the desired tilt angle, and then retighten the screw. The knob wrench should be saved for future use.
- Fan Cradle Assembly: Simple assembly is required.
- Align the Cradle Base (packed separately) with the support brackets attached to the fan body sides. Some flexing of parts may be needed for proper alignment.
- Insert a support bracket into the opening of the Cradle Base. Press the spring-loaded button down to allow it to insert.
- Push the support bracket into the Cradle Base until the spring button protrudes out of the open hole.
- Repeat the process for the opposite side of the fan.
- Safety Precautions (Warnings):
- Shock Hazard: Use only in dry environments. Do not use near water sources or in damp areas. Do not use with damaged cords or plugs. Do not defeat the three-prong grounded plug safety feature.
- Hot Surfaces: Do not touch the fan motor when in use, as it becomes hot.
- Fire Hazard: Do not use near combustible materials, flammable gases, or heat sources. Do not block air intakes or exhausts. Do not insert foreign objects into openings. Avoid using extension cords due to fire risk; if one must be used, it should be at least 14 AWG and rated not less than 1875 watts. Do not run the power cord under carpeting or cover it with rugs.
- General Safety: Read all instructions before use. Do not operate with a damaged cord, after a malfunction, or if dropped. Exercise extreme caution when used by or near children, disabled persons, or pets, and when left unattended. Do not operate without blade guards or any safety devices removed. Avoid contact with moving parts. This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
- Speed Control: Do not use this product with any solid-state speed control device to reduce the risk of fire or electric shock.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning: Always unplug the fan before cleaning. Clean the grille surface with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. NEVER immerse the fan or any wires in water. Replace the front grille before using the fan. Allow the fan to dry completely before use. Regular vacuuming of the grille will prevent dust buildup.
- Motor: The internal motor bearings are permanently lubricated at the factory and do not require additional lubrication, cleaning, or maintenance.
- Repairs: Do not operate the fan without the grille in place. Do not use the fan if it malfunctions or is damaged in any way.
- Storage: Keep the original carton for storage. Coil and tie the power cord to prevent damage.
- Fuse Replacement:
- Grasp the plug and remove it from the receptacle or other outlet device; do not unplug by pulling on the cord.
- Open the fuse cover by sliding the access cover on top of the attachment plug towards the blades.
- Carefully remove the fuse using a small tool to pry up the end of the fuse from its cavity. Be careful not to break the glass window.
- Replace the fuse with an identical 2.5 or 5.0 amperes, 125 watts (3.6 mm x 10 mm) fuse. Ensure the fuse is properly seated.
- Close the fuse cover by sliding it back to its original locked position. If the replacement fuse blows, the product may have a short circuit and should be discarded or returned to an authorized service facility.
