following:
1. Do not leave the game ball oating around the pool
when not in use.

Overview

The document describes the NBA Competition Basketball Game, 72900 Series, manufactured by POOLMASTER®, a company specializing in water fun products. This poolside basketball game is designed for recreational use in or around a swimming pool.

Function Description:

The NBA Competition Basketball Game provides a complete basketball setup for poolside entertainment. It allows users to play basketball in a water environment, offering a fun and engaging activity for individuals or groups. The game includes all necessary components for assembly and play, such as a backboard, hoop, net, base, and an inflatable ball. Its design emphasizes stability and durability for use in a pool setting.

Important Technical Specifications and Components:

The game consists of several key components that assemble to form the complete unit:

  • Backboard with Plug: This is the main surface against which the ball is shot. It features a plug, likely for drainage or internal access.
  • Polyform Game Base: This serves as the foundation of the basketball game, providing stability. It is designed to be filled with a weighting agent (sand or water) to prevent tipping.
  • Upright with 8 Installed Inserts: This component connects the base to the backboard and hoop, providing the necessary height and support. The "8 Installed Inserts" likely refer to threaded points for secure attachment of other components.
  • Hoop: The circular ring through which the ball is aimed.
  • Polyethylene Net: Attached to the hoop, this net catches the ball after a successful shot.
  • Ball: An inflatable basketball designed for use with the game.
  • Base Cap: Used to seal the opening of the Polyform Game Base after it has been filled with sand or water.
  • Ball Needle: A small accessory used to inflate the game ball.
  • NO SLAM DUNK label: A warning label to be placed on the base, indicating a specific usage restriction.

Hardware for Assembly:

  • Washers x3: Used to distribute the load of fasteners and prevent damage to surfaces.
  • 1/4-20 x 1" Bolts x3: Shorter bolts used for specific connections during assembly.
  • 1/4-20 x 2" Bolts x5: Longer bolts used for other connections, particularly where more material thickness needs to be secured.

Assembly Instructions (Step-by-Step):

  1. Step 1: Insert Upright into Base. The Upright is inserted into the Polyform Game Base. This connection is secured using three 1/4-20 x 1" Bolts and Washers.
  2. Step 2: Attach Backboard to Upright. The Backboard is connected to the Upright. This step utilizes one 1/4-20 x 2" Bolt, which passes through the center hole on the Backboard.
  3. Step 3: Align holes on Hoop Base with holes on Backboard and Upright. The Hoop Base is aligned with corresponding holes on both the Backboard and the Upright. This crucial connection is secured with four 1/4-20 x 2" Bolts.
  4. Step 4: Attach Net to Hoop. The Polyethylene Net is fastened to the Hoop.
  5. Step 5: Fill Base with sand or water and cover opening with Base Cap. To ensure stability, the Polyform Game Base must be filled. The manual recommends using sand for "best results," but water is also an option. Once filled, the opening is sealed with the Base Cap.
  6. Step 6: Use Ball Needle and a hand pump (not included) to inflate Ball. The included Ball Needle is used with a separate hand pump (not supplied) to inflate the game ball to the appropriate pressure.
  7. Step 7: Place NO SLAM DUNK label on front of Base. The warning label is affixed to the front of the Polyform Game Base.

Usage Features:

  • Poolside Play: Designed specifically for use in or around a swimming pool, making it ideal for water-based recreation.
  • Stability: The fillable base (with sand or water) ensures the game remains stable during play, preventing it from tipping over.
  • Inflatable Ball: The included ball is designed for water use and can be easily inflated.
  • "NO SLAM DUNK" Warning: This label indicates a critical usage restriction, advising users against forceful dunking. This is likely to prevent damage to the unit or potential injury, emphasizing the recreational nature of the game rather than competitive, high-impact play.

Maintenance Features and Product Care & Storage:

The manual provides clear guidelines for extending the life of the poolside game, acknowledging the harsh environment of sun and chemically treated pool water (chlorine).

  1. Ball Storage: Do not leave the game ball floating in the pool when not in use. This prevents prolonged exposure to chemicals and sunlight, which can degrade the material.
  2. Rinsing After Use: After each use, the game should be washed with plain water using a garden hose. This is crucial for rinsing away chlorine pool water, which is corrosive to synthetic materials.
  3. Dry Storage: When not in use, the entire game should be stored in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. This protects the materials from UV degradation and moisture-related wear.
  • Flat-head Screwdriver: This is the only specific tool recommended in the manual, suggesting it might be needed for minor adjustments or specific screw types not covered by the bolts.
