Usage Features:

  • Control Panel: Features a speed display (showing current riding speed), mode display (ECO, D, S for different speed settings), cruise control (activates after 3 seconds of engaged throttle, deactivates by pressing throttle completely or applying brake), battery level display (5 bars indicating charge level), and a power button.
  • Power Button Functions:
    • Turn On/Off: Press and hold for 2 seconds.
    • Headlight: Press once when turned on.
    • Change Speed Mode: Press twice.
  • Assembly: Involves fastening the handlebar to the steering column, unfolding the steering column, fastening the folding mechanism, and opening the kickstand. After assembly, the power button should be pressed to check functionality.
  • Riding:
    1. Turn on the scooter and check the battery level.
    2. Step on the deck with one foot, push forward with the other foot to roll and coast.
    3. Once coasting, place both feet on the deck and press the accelerator. The electric scooter will not engage until it reaches approximately 2 mph for safety.
    4. Releasing the accelerator gently slows the scooter. Squeezing the brake lever provides immediate braking.
    5. To turn, lean the body slightly and turn the handlebars in the desired direction.
  • Folding and Carrying:
    • Ensure the scooter is turned off.
    • To fold: Unlock the folding mechanism, and fold the steering column to hook the buckle on the rear mudguard.
    • To open: Press the bell trigger to release from the buckle, open the steering column, and lock the folding mechanism.
    • To carry: Hold the scooter by the steering column.
  • Speed Warning: The scooter will beep and flash when exceeding 15 mph.

Safety Instructions:

  • General Precautions:
    • Read and understand the entire manual before riding.
    • Wear helmets and knee pads, especially when learning to ride.
    • Check all fasteners are locked before each ride.
    • Ride at a controlled and slow speed on uneven surfaces, bending knees to absorb impacts.
    • Be aware of doors, elevators, and overhead obstacles.
    • Do not accelerate when going downhill.
    • Do not press the accelerator when walking alongside the scooter.
    • Always steer clear of obstacles.
    • Do not hang bags or other heavy accessories on the handlebars.
    • Keep both feet on the deck at all times.
  • Prohibited Actions:
    • Riding during rainy/wet weather.
    • Riding in traffic lanes or residential areas shared with vehicles and pedestrians.
    • Turning the handlebar violently during high-speed riding.
    • Riding into puddles deeper than 0.78 inches.
    • Riding with anyone else, including children.
    • Keeping feet on the rear mudguard.
    • Taking hands off the handlebars while riding.
    • Touching the disc brake during operation.
    • Trying to ride up or down stairs or jumping over obstacles.
  • Safety Reminder:
    • The scooter is a leisure device; follow manual instructions and traffic laws.
    • Use caution, maintain proper speed and distance, especially when unfamiliar with the area.
    • Understand that risks cannot be entirely avoided; ride responsibly in safe conditions.
    • Respect pedestrians, use the bell, and ride slowly around others to avoid accidents, especially children.
    • Populo is not liable for financial losses, injuries, accidents, legal disputes, or other conflicts resulting from violations of user instructions.
    • Users must know how to operate the scooter properly before use and use safety gear.
    • Inspect the scooter before each use for loose parts, low battery alerts, flat tires, excessive wear, strange sounds, or malfunctions. Stop riding immediately and seek professional support if any issues are found.
    • WARNING: Risk of Fire - No User Serviceable Parts.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Wipe stains with a damp cloth. For stubborn stains, use toothpaste and a toothbrush, then wipe clean.
    • For scratches on plastic parts, use sandpaper or abrasive materials to polish.
    • Do not use alcohol, gasoline, kerosene, or corrosive chemical solvents.
    • Do not wash with high-pressure water spray.
    • Ensure the scooter is off, charging cable unplugged, and rubber flap closed during cleaning to prevent electric shock or other problems from water leakage.
  • Storage:
    • Store indoors in a dry and cool place when not in use.
    • Avoid prolonged outdoor exposure to prevent tire aging and compromise of the scooter and battery lifespan due to excessive sunlight, overheating, or overcooling.
  • Battery Maintenance:
    • Use original battery packs and power adapters to avoid safety issues and damage.
    • Do not touch contacts, dismantle, or puncture the casing. Keep contacts away from metal objects to prevent short circuits.
    • Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations to protect the environment.
    • Fully charge the battery after every use to prolong its lifespan.
    • Avoid placing the battery in environments with ambient temperatures above 122°F or below -4°F (e.g., direct sunlight in a car).
    • Do not throw the battery pack into fire.
    • If the scooter is idle for more than 30 days, fully charge the battery and store it in a dry, cool place. Recharge every 60 days to prevent damage beyond limited warranty.
    • Always charge before exhausting the battery.
    • Battery performance is better at normal temperatures; below 32°F, riding range may be halved or less.
    • The electric scooter needs to be charged every 2-3 months. Damage from prolonged lack of charge is irreversible and beyond limited warranty. Non-professionals are forbidden from dismantling the battery pack due to risks of electric shock, short circuit, or major safety accidents.

Troubleshooting:

  • Disc Brake Adjustment: The brake barrel adjuster can be turned clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust brake tightness. Contact customer service for assistance.
  • Error Codes:
    • E1 (Motor malfunction): Check that motor wires are firmly connected to the controller and free of contamination/grit. Restart the scooter.
    • E2 (Throttle malfunction): Restart the scooter. Replace the throttle if the issue persists.
  • Scooter would not power on: Ensure the battery is charged, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds, or replace the control panel.
  • Battery not charging: Ensure the charger is connected to an electrical outlet and check if the LED indicator on the charger works.
  • Brake makes noise: Check if the brake rotor is misaligned.
  • Lights don't turn on: Check if wire connections are good, firmly plugged in, and free of contamination/grit.

Warranty:

  • One-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects in materials and/or workmanship for the scooter and main components from the date of original retail purchase.
  • Consumable parts (tire, brakes, seal ring, other mechanical components) are not covered.
  • Warranty is void if:
    • The scooter is charged by non-original chargers.
    • The scooter shows signs of damage or defects from abuse, accident, or alterations.
    • Failure to use or perform maintenance as outlined in the user manual.
    • The scooter is disassembled or tampered with.
