Do you have a question about the Power Stroke PS141913 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document describes the PowerStroke Electric Pressure Washer (Models PS141913/PS141955), a tool designed for cleaning various exterior surfaces around the house.

Function Description:

The PowerStroke Electric Pressure Washer is an electrical appliance used for high-pressure cleaning. It operates by releasing a stream of water under high pressure, which can be used with or without detergents designed specifically for pressure washers. The unit is equipped with a start button for turning it on and off, a trigger handle with a lock-out feature for safety and control, and a soap tank for applying cleaning solutions. It is designed for outdoor use and requires a water supply connection.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Maximum Pounds Per Square Inch (PSI): 1,900 psi
  • Maximum Gallons Per Minute (GPM): 1.2 GPM
  • Input: Nominal 120V/60Hz AC only, 13 Amps
  • Electrical Connection: The product is designed for a 120V/60Hz AC household circuit. It should not be operated on direct current (DC).
  • Grounding: The product must be grounded and is equipped with an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug.
  • Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI): A GFCI is built into the power cord plug for additional protection against electric shock. This GFCI can be tested with TEST and RESET buttons.
  • Extension Cords: The manual strongly recommends against using an extension cord. If one must be used, it should be a 3-wire outdoor-rated cord with a minimum wire gauge size of 12 AWG for lengths up to 25 feet (7.6 m). A "drip loop" should be arranged to prevent water from reaching the plug or outlet.

Usage Features:

  • Start Button: Turns the pressure washer on and off.
  • Trigger Handle with Lock-Out: Pulling the trigger releases the high-pressure water stream. The lock-out feature prevents unauthorized use and can be engaged by pushing it up until it clicks into the slot, and disengaged by pushing it down. The trigger handle should be held securely with both hands to manage reaction forces.
  • Nozzle Selection Guide: The unit comes with various quick-connect nozzles (15°, Turbo, Soap) each offering a different spray pattern for specific cleaning tasks.
  • Soap Tank: A removable tank for adding pressure washer detergents. The machine is set for a 20:1 dilution ratio for detergents.
  • High-Pressure Hose: Must be fully unwrapped and straightened before and during use to prevent kinks and damage, which could lead to leaks and injection injuries.
  • Water Supply: Requires connection to a water main. Hot water, or water from pools, lakes, etc., should never be used. The water intake screen must be in place and unclogged. A minimum of 10 feet (3.1 m) of unrestricted hose is recommended between the pressure washer intake and the faucet.
  • Operation Sequence: Before starting, connect all hoses, turn on the garden hose, and pull the trigger to release air until a steady stream of water appears. Then, with the start button in the OFF position, connect the unit to the power supply and press the GFCI reset button. Finally, push the start button to the ON position.
  • Detergent Application: Detergent is poured into the soap tank, and the blue or black soap nozzle is attached. The trigger is squeezed for approximately 5 seconds for the detergent to appear. Detergent should be sprayed on a dry surface using long, even, overlapping strokes, and not allowed to dry on the surface to prevent streaking.
  • Rinsing: After detergent application, the soap tank should be filled with clean water and sprayed through the wand until the tank is empty.
  • Pump Protector: Regular use of a commercially available pump protector is recommended after each use and before storage to prolong pump life, remove mineral deposits, lubricate seals and pistons, and prevent freeze damage.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Maintenance: Avoid using solvents on plastic parts. Clean with a clean cloth to remove dirt, dust, oil, and grease. Do not allow brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, or penetrating oils to contact plastic parts.
  • Pump Lubrication: The pump is pre-lubricated for its lifetime under normal operating conditions and does not require further lubrication.
  • Pump Maintenance: Routine visual inspection for lubricant leaks around pump seals is recommended. If leaks are noticed, the unit should be taken to a qualified service center. The pump has no user-serviceable parts; attempting to service it will void the warranty.
  • Power Supply Cord Replacement: Must be done by an authorized service center if necessary.
  • Nozzle Maintenance: Clogged or dirty nozzles can cause excessive pump pressure. To clean, unplug the unit, turn off water, release pressure, remove the nozzle, and clear debris with a straightened paper clip or fine needle. Back-flush the nozzle with a garden hose.
  • Storage: Store in a dry, covered, frost-free area. All water must be emptied from hoses, the pump, and the soap tank before storing to prevent freeze damage (which voids the warranty). The high-pressure hose should be neatly coiled and stored. Do not store near heat sources that could dry out pump seals.
  • Moving the Pressure Washer: Tilt the machine slightly to balance on its wheels and roll it to the desired position. Do not lift or carry by the handle, tilt forward or sideways, or pull by any hoses.

Safety Information:

The manual emphasizes several safety warnings, including:

  • Reading and understanding all instructions before use.
  • Wearing eye protection with side shields (ANSI Z87.1 compliant).
  • Keeping children and visitors away from the work area.
  • Not directing the discharge stream at persons, pets, or electrical devices.
  • Not operating the product when tired or under the influence of drugs/alcohol.
  • Using only recommended accessories.
  • Inspecting for damaged or missing parts before each use.
  • Ensuring all connections are dry and off the ground to prevent electrocution.
  • Never removing nozzles without turning off the motor, relieving pressure, and locking the trigger handle.
  • Not using acids, alkalines, solvents, flammable materials, bleaches, or industrial-grade solutions.
  • Maintaining a minimum clearance of 3 feet (90 cm) from combustible materials.
  • Holding the trigger handle securely with both hands to counter reaction forces.

This pressure washer is intended for personal, family, or household use and comes with a two-year limited warranty (90 days for business or commercial use).
