Do you have a question about the Powerplus POW162X and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Powerplus POW162X is a 1020W router designed for routing work on wood, wood-like materials, and plastics. It is not intended for commercial use.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Voltage: 230-240 V
  • Frequency: 50 Hz
  • Capacity: 1020 W
  • RPMs (no load): 11,500-34,000 rpm
  • Routing depth: 50 mm
  • Shaft diameter router: 8 mm
  • Weight: 3.8 kg
  • Acoustic pressure level LpA: 92 dB(A)
  • Acoustic power level LwA: 103 dB(A)
  • Vibration (aw): 5.6 m/s² (K = 1.5 m/s²)

Usage Features:

The router features an on/off switch, handles, a router base, and an adjustable clamp for the profiling bar. It includes a collet nut and spindle lock for securing router bits. For depth control, it has a revolver depth stop, an adjustable clamp depth stop, and a depth stop, along with a calibration routing depth scale. An adjustment wheel allows for electronic speed regulation.

Safety Warnings:

  • Always read the manual and general safety instructions before use.
  • Wear ear protection when the sound pressure exceeds 85 dB(A).
  • Wear eye protection and a mask in dusty conditions.
  • Keep the working area clean, well-lit, and free from flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
  • Keep children and bystanders at a safe distance.
  • Ensure the power supply matches the voltage on the rating plate.
  • Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces.
  • Do not expose the power tool to rain or wet conditions.
  • Do not damage the cord; keep it away from heat, oil, sharp edges, and moving parts.
  • Use an extension cable suitable for outdoor use when operating outdoors.
  • If operating in damp conditions, use a power supply protected by a residual current device (RCD).
  • Stay alert and use common sense; do not operate when tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
  • Use safety equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, and a hard hat.
  • Ensure the switch is in the off position before inserting the plug.
  • Remove any adjusting keys or spanners before turning on the power tool.
  • Do not overreach; maintain firm footing.
  • Dress properly; avoid loose clothing, jewelry, or long hair near moving parts.
  • Ensure dust extraction and collection facilities are properly attached and used.
  • Use the correct power tool for the task.
  • Do not use the power tool if the switch is faulty.
  • Disconnect the plug before making adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool.
  • Store power tools out of reach of children and untrained users.
  • Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.
  • Use the power tool, accessories, and cutting tools according to instructions and intended use.

Assembling Accessories:

  • Attaching and Removing Router Bits (fig. 1): Always remove the plug from the socket before assembling. Use router bits with a shank diameter matching the collet size and suitable for the machine's maximum RPMs. The router diameter should not exceed the maximum specified in the technical specifications. Press the spindle lock (7) and turn the collet nut (6) until it drops into the lock, keeping the spindle lock pressed. Loosen the collet nut with the wrench, insert the router bit shaft into the collet opening, and tighten the collet nut. Loosen to replace. If replacing during operation, wait for the machine to halt and cool down.
  • Assembling and Installing the Profiling Bar (fig. 2): The profiling bar is useful for routing small workpieces. Attach the profiling bar (18) to the frame (14) using bolts (19). Loosen clamp screws (4), slide the profiling bars into fittings (5), adjust to the desired guiding distance, and tighten the clamp screws.
  • Assemble the Guide Bushing (fig. 3): The guide bushing (15) is suitable for routing according to a pattern. Attach it to the router base (3) using screws (17) and nuts (20).
  • Attaching the Adapter for Dust Collection (fig. 4): Use the adapter (16) to collect dust. Attach it to the router base (3) using screws (17) and nuts (20). Attach the dust collector's mouth to the adapter's exit. Position the adapter's exit behind the machine for better visibility of the workpiece.

Operation:

  • Always follow safety instructions and current regulations.
  • Keep the machine in a stopped position on the workpiece when switching it on or off to prevent damage.
  • Clamp the workpiece securely to prevent it from sliding during operation.
  • Hold the machine firmly and move it evenly across the workpiece; do not force it.
  • Only use router bits without visible wear and tear, as worn bits reduce efficiency.

Depth Control:

  • Using the graded scale (Fig. 5): Loosen the collet of the depth regulator (9). Remove the clamp handle (11) and push the machine downwards until it touches the workpiece. Tighten the clamp handle. Use the graded scale (12) to adjust to the desired depth (10). Tighten the collet.
  • Using the depth regulator revolver: Two different depths can be quickly adjusted using the three adjustment screws on the depth regulator.

Starting and Stopping (FIG. A):

  • To start, press the on/off button (1). Adjust speed with the adjusting key (13).
  • To stop, press the same button on "O".
  • Warning: Route plastic parts at low speeds. After use, put the machine away only after it has come to a complete halt. Do not store in a dusty place, as dust can enter and disrupt mechanical parts.

Maintenance:

  • Always remove the plug from the socket before examining the machine.
  • Keeping the machine dust-free and clean will extend its lifespan.
  • Cleaning: Regularly clean with a damp cloth, preferably after every use. Ensure ventilation plates are free of dust. A damp cloth and detergent can be used for stubborn dirt, but avoid ammonia, alcohol, gasoline, or other caustic products that can damage plastic parts.
  • Lubricating: This machine does not require additional lubrication.
  • Defect: In case of defects due to wear and tear, contact the store where the machine was purchased. A list of reference numbers for parts can be found in the back of the manual.

Warranty:

  • A 24-month warranty is provided from the date of purchase by the first user.
  • Covers material or production flaws, excluding batteries, chargers, wear & tear parts (bearings, brushes, cables, plugs, accessories), damage from maltreatment, accidents, alterations, or transportation costs.
  • Damage from inappropriate use is not covered.
  • Liability for bodily injury from inappropriate use is disclaimed.
  • Repairs must be carried out by an authorized Powerplus service center.
  • Transportation costs are borne by the customer unless otherwise agreed.
  • Warranty claims are void if damage results from negligent maintenance or overload.
  • Exclusions include fluid permeation, excessive dust penetration, intentional damage, inappropriate usage, incompetent usage, inexpert assembly, lightning strike, or erroneous net voltage.
  • Warranty claims do not prolong the warranty period or start a new one upon device replacement.
  • Replaced devices or parts remain the property of Varo NV.
  • Claims may be rejected if purchase cannot be verified or if the product has not been properly maintained (e.g., clean ventilation slots, regularly serviced carbon brushes).
  • The purchase receipt must be kept as proof of date of purchase.
  • The appliance must be returned undismantled to the dealer in an acceptably clean state, in its original blow-moulded case (if applicable), with proof of purchase.

Environment:

  • Do not discard the appliance with household rubbish. Dispose of it in an environmentally safe way.
  • Waste from electrical machines should be recycled where facilities exist. Consult your local authority or retailer for recycling advice.
